White Sox. Still not convinced this is the best representative of the A.L, but they deserved to be where they are. I just think the A.L. is the stronger of the two leagues. I'm also one of those fans who is feared by the network and their advertisers concerning this World Series. While they'll play up the never won vs long ago won story angle, this World Series sparks little if any interest in me, and I fear other than reading the box scores in the morning, I doubt I'll watch even an inning of it. Neither the teams, nor their players, interest me. Apoligies to the fans and the cities, and hopefully for baseball I'll be proven wrong, but I'm guessing this will be one of the least watched series in many a year.

Viewing from Connecticut, I'll be interested to see Clemens, Pettitte and Oswalt match up against Chicago's starting staff of complete games. I think Ozzie Guillen's a managerial breath of fresh air. Each team has some really nasty arms in the bullpen, and neither team's hitting appears overwhelming compared to the other's. Should be a great series - I'll be watching even though I'm no fan of either team. But I'll be rooting for the Astros - National League guy that I am...

I like the match up due to the similarities between the two teams. Small ball, for the part a National League style, and solid pitching and defense. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour that last year's series had, but I do like the two teams in there right now. At least it's something fresh, something different - not teams that are considered title contenders every Spring.

I'm hoping the Astros take the series in seven - maybe we'll get a complete game, 10 inning shut out from Clemens in that game, a la Jack Morris circa 1991. Yeah, I know, not a chance. I just feel that it would be a great way to send off both Biggio and Bagwell, who have both had tremendous careers but just can't keep going on forever.

Either way, as a fan of the game in general, I think it will be an interesting Series to watch. Maybe not as much fan fare, but some good, solid, baseball.

I am a life long NL fan, and I will be rooting for the Astros, but I think it will be the Sox in 6...just more weapons, and great pitching also! Maybe not AS great of starters, but darn close!

Ihave to agree with mtbell, damm close, however overall, i feel and find astros have better pen, pitching, but hitting, i like the sox hitters better. the outcome will be pitching in this series. If clemens and oswalt( sux for me) does well, then i say astros in 6.

Astros in 6

Oswalt, Pettitte, Clemens, Lidge in that order. NASTY NASTY STUFF!
Out of the last five years none has truly had a bad year. This is the first good year for several of the sox pitchers ever(read Contreras, Jenks) our bullpen is superior, bats are about even, but Lance Berkman is among the best pure bats in all of baseball. Konerko is a serious HR threat but his discipline and BA will not bode well in the NL Park games. Look for the pitchers to exploit that.

Most of the games will be close but I already have money down on the stros as a long shot from back in June 25$=12000$ if they win.

Got to BEE-leive!

Five Reasons the White will win

Postby genevajack » Fri Oct 21, 2005 7:00 pm

You National League Guys-havn't paid close attention

1) RED HOT PITCHING The Sox are Sizzling RED-HOT with their pitching. FOUR (4) straight complete games against teams with the DH. If this were stratto-and two pitching staffs had similiar ERAs-one facing a DH- that teams staff is superior and would have the advantage.

2) BALL PARK POWER Second-Payne from ESPN makes the valid point that Minutemaid favors the Sox-mostly RH lineup. The Cell also is a hitters park-and the Sox have more power than the Stros.

3) DESIRE. The Sox wanted a Series appearance and WIN-back in June. The Astros feel lucky to make it there.

4) Relief-Jenks-er Shrek- will dominate.

5) GUILLEN. breadth of fresh air in a Series.
