How does a three-way tie for the wild-card work?

Postby teepack » Fri Sep 29, 2006 7:54 pm

I'm in a league that ends tonight, and we've got four teams within one game of the wild-card. Each division has a team that is 80-79, and there is a fourth team that is 79-80. There is a very real possibility that we could have a three-way tie for the wild-card. I just want to know would they break that? Since it says the first tie-breaker is head-to-head, would they take each team's record against the other two involved in the tie? Or would they go straight to run differential (I have the best run differential of the four, so that's what I'm hoping for!). Anybody got any ideas?

Copied from the game rules:
Tie breaker for division winner, wild card spot or home field advantage

Tiebreakers for a 3-way tie are, in order:
- Best record vs. teams within division
- Run differential
- Coin flip
