WTF? Things like this make you wonder sometimes how the likes of Pedro may not be the dullest bulb on the porch....

Maybe Pedro knew something was amiss and really didnt wanna come back, no matter the $ offered

Basically, Theo is leaving due to philosphical reasons, they agreed on $, but something else is up

Is Red Saux nation a volcano ready to explode (or, in this case, implode)?

Also, timing could not be worse.......

All this will do is let Steinbrenner see a wider crack in the facade and go all out again $ wise to beat the dreaded saux into the ground.

Theo's stepping away from the "nation", is only going to be really, really bad for baseball

IMO

With Damon, Millar, Mueller leaving and Manny wanting out, no closer to speak of, a financial blunder by the name of Renteria, and an aging Schilling, something tells me he's getting out while he still has a reputation. Then all the Theo backers can say it was his leaving that the Sox collapsed in 2006. Smart professional move I say as his reputation far exceeds his skills.
