Game engine upgrade for Monday, 5/21

Postby joethejet » Wed May 23, 2007 1:35 am

Hey Bernie,

I *love* the new display. One more question for you, is there any way to see if the singles/doubles are really to an outfield position or are actually * or ** hits? I'm guessing that SOM hides that from you too, but I think it would be more interesting to know if there was possibly a throw to a base or not. Also might tell you if you missed a HR chance and ended up with a DO (CF) instead.

Oh, one other question for you, I assume the outs on missed bp si's are all of the variety that don't advance runners?

Thanks,

Jet

I am undefeated under the new improvements. 8) I always knew my losing ways were the result of glitches/shortcomings in the game engine code. Thanks Bernie. Now my true talent will soon become evident to all in the strat world. Once these hit the ATG game where I play the most I am sure I will be rocketing to the top of the manager rankings.

Bernie,

Is another difference that BP SI can be two base hits? They can only be Si* in the board game. If they can be **, do you know how often this happens?

see this game for an example. Look in the top of the 9th. http://register.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/2007/league/boxscore.html?group_id=683&g_id=944

Interesting. It does say the single went to CF so maybe Abreu challanged the CF arm? Though like you I remeber ball park singles only being an automatic one base advance.

very nice improvements, especially the expanded x=play results. short of a dice roll, this is very beneficial in seeing who caused what, and how big a facotr the park played in hits or outs.

Bernie.. I was a little slow catching on but I finally realized those alpha numerci combos to the right of the play by play were the split and fielding rolls.. thanks very much.. makes reading the play by plays much more meaningful .. and helps confirm that defence does count for something !
