waiver wire / trade block / minor leagues

waiver wire / trade block / minor leagues

1.It would be neat to have an area where you could put guys on the "block" in your league much like the injuries are posted.

2.As another idea what about a waiver wire? When you release a guy someone on another team can pick them up within 24hours, or start with the worst team to the best moving only once a team says they do not want a the player. Perhaps it could be worked out so there would be no 80% penalty with players on the "waiver wire".

3.A minor league. aside from the 80 mil, you are given 3mil more to build a minor league of a maximum of 5 players, these players can be brought up or sent down due to injuries or poor performance. No 80% penalty with these players. In order from them being used series to series for matchups, they must remain on the roster for 3 nights (barring injury)Let's say they get 1 or 2 times where they can be brought up or sent down then they go on the waiver wire (not including injury replacements), if no one claims them you can keep them. After game 142 you can bring all your callups up, like September. With this you could also make it possible for both catchers to get injured as you have a 3rd in the minor's.

Maybe none of this is possible, practical, or maybe no one else likes the ideas. I'm not smart enought to figure out how to do it or all the things that would be involved but I'm sure somebody is ( BERNIE)

Anybody like any of these ideas or should I just leave well enough alone?

I like the idea. This would work just like the major leagues. This would also be just like when you replay a league. I dont know if it is possible but from what i have seen so far in just a couple of months anything can happen.

Idea #1: Might work, but we do have the league message board where one can also post "on the block" messages.

Idea #2: Could lead to collusion. "Hey Joe, at 2pm I'm going to be dropping (player) which is the final piece to your puzzle. Make sure you're on at exactly that time to grab him."

Idea #3: While I haven't seen many slanted teams in the 07 set, imagine what having a minor league staff of 3 9R's in your minor league could do to a 06 Minute Maid team. Or, in 07, having a division full of LH SP's, but the remainder of the league being basically RH'd. You could "call up" C. Ross, B. Williams, and K. Shoppach for the 1st 18 games, send them down during inter-division play, and call them back up during the mid season divisional play. Then at game 142, when you are playing your division again, they are brought back up again.

Good ideas, all of them, but both #2 and #3 would lead to some big-time abuse.

I think they are all excellant ideas. I also play on whatifsports.com. They have the #1 and #3 incorporated already. The minor league systems makes the game a lot more fun. On whatifsports.com the minor league players are randomly picked real players that are valued between $1M and $4M with different names. If your team is doing poorly it is nice have minor leagues to fill in a gap, it also makes the game more interesting because a bunch of people deal their minor league players.
