I know I am too LH heavy and I'm trying to figure out who to leadoff and how to mix my RH hitters in this lineup.

This is my first 2005 team, so please, critique away and let me know what areas I can in improve upon for my next team. Thaks

1. What other stadiums are in your division?

2. How many: LHSP's will you face vs. RHSP's

3. How many lefty vs. right bats will you see?

I don't really like the Nathan / Smoltz combo. They are both C6's.

Nathan, your most expensive RP, has pitched only 6 2/3 innings.

I'd rather have a Gordon/Ryan (R2) etc... as my setup guy, getting most of the innings. Your NOT getting your $'s worth by having Nathan pitch so little. By doing this, you could have a much cheaper closer. ie. Percival, Frasor etc...

Hitting:

Need to see what other parks there are. This would also help with the pitching.

I rarely recommend making changes during season with the cap hit you will take, but I have to agree with the others that you are paying way too much money for Nathan for the innings that you are getting from him. You could be much more efficient with a solid R2 soaking up some 6th-8th innings in the 3-4 million range. That would leave some cash for an upgrade elsewhere perhaps.

The stadiums in my division are SBC, US Cellular & Petco (I;m @ Yankee Stadium). The teams in my division have pretty balanced staffs (LH's I oppose are Mulder, Santana, Leiter, Matrisch, Kennedy, H. Ramirez & O. Perez) . The lineups are not imposing in my division save for one team (Delgado, Ramirez, Kent, Pujols, Blalock) that is in first and had an amazing draft (also got J. Santana). What can I improve on? I haven't dropped any players-my team has good OBP but not enough of it comes from BA which means i'm leaving a bunch of LOB's. Should I just be patient and let the rolls work in my favor? by R1/R2 what do you mean? Both Smoltz and Nathan can only go an inning before getting winded?

the problem is it comes to value. TSN prices the pitchers on what they can do (* rating, closer rating, R1, S7, etc). So by paying 2 relievers, who are only R1's (yes that means only 1 innign until they are winded) but also C6's, well you are paying too much for too little.

Even so 6 innings in 17 games is NOT enough to warrent that much money. I would change his settings for now, but explore some trade options with other people. But chane Nathans settings to set up both sides, avoid before 7th. Leave the closer spots blank, and put Smoltz in as avoid before 8th. That should have Nathan get more innings in critical times, and if he gets tired Smoltz should come in his place.
