Enough Power for the Cell?

Enough Power for the Cell?

I'm having second thoughts about this US Cell team that I thought was looking pretty good. Maybe too much OBP and not enough BPHR power? Should I replace Abreu with Someone who hits more homeruns, Vladdy maybe? Could exchange Scuataro for Durham, but hate the "3" at 2b - is it mistake to pass up Durham at the Cell? Does Posada have enough power to catch at the Cell? Matsui is my DH vs RH (Harris vs. LH) - should I go for more power there?

Any advice appreciated. (One of the relievers will be released for starting pitching).

A belated "thank you" to Palmtana for the instructions; the correct link to the Cell team is above......

I like your team. Good power and many doubles. Your picthing is weak but who cares your in a hitters ballpark. It's the way I have built my teams and I have done pretty good. Out score them is my motto. Let the rolls be with you. Take me for what I am worth, 8 teams with 1 in the 07 season and they won the title. My only one. Play it your way baby.

The pitching is a big problem as it is, IMO.

I don't like all the money you have in the pen....I think you should invest some of that in another starting pitcher. He doesn't have to be great, but the two .50 guys you are planning on using will get killed. Plus, I don't like mixing 2 * SP with 3 non * starters, especially with 2 of the 3 being terrible. You can get get two more * sp for that park pretty cheap. (you might even consider moyer depending on the other parks and lefties in your division, or padilla depending on righties and the other parks. ethier of them would be much better as a 4th *sp than what you have going on now) Jennings is avail and would be a decent sp fro your park. I like Willis and Cook.

As for the pen, get one lights out guy, nathan for example, and have him set to set up and close, both sides. Then try to add a street, or soriano. I like sherrill against lefties, but then dump the others and try to pick up a gaudin or hernandez type, and a looper type for long relief. You just don't need all that $$ in the pen....I've won 3 championships in hitters parks with that type of set up. in fact I usually have one stud, and then all the others are under 1.

As for the offense...just me, but if I could have Vlad, I would!
Not sure who you're using for dh but C. Lee is avail and would kill there, so would escobar although he'll miss some games due to injury. Paulino at C would save you some cash and would put up great numbers in that park. (he's my hitters park C everytime unless I spend more and go with Ross who is twice as much but would DESTROY the ball in your park! You could also save $$$ buy swaping Tejada for Young and I've found that young's numbers are just as good in that park, but he is a 3 vs Miguel's 2. although he has more errors.

Just things to consider....

I agree with DR's assesment of your staff. I would follow his recomendations...

On offense, I also do not like posada here...but would respectfully disagree with the Paulino choice (with the exception that it would free up $$ for you). I love a Kohjima/Shoppach platoon here. You need guys who can hit it out of the park in Cell ,and Paulino is W both sides.

I would keep abreu. I like him here, has power and speed and OBP, makes a nice leadoff man.

You are extremely suseptible to LHP....I am assuming Ward is your DH. Durham would be an excellent DH, and could help protect your weak side vs LHP. He and Shoppach combined would make managers think twice about throwing all LHP at you. Or better yet, drop Ward and Scutaro (again , W vs RHP, not good in Cell) and add C. Lee at DH and make Durham your everday 2B...I t hink that would improve this team alot.

so david, how do you limit your stud in the bullie when using this strategy.... seems like you'd want to limit him to not before 7th????

or is this using the old "fireman" theory where if the game is on the line in the 6th or later ya bring him in and let whoever get the "save"?
