Why is it so hard to win at Kauffman?

Truth be told, Schuerholz was not the reason the Royals were good. They were good well before he arrived in 1981 with 4 division titles under managers like Jack McKeon, Whitey Herzog and Jim Frey. Kudos to him for hiring Dick Howser, but he also had some pretty boneheaded moves like doling out wheelbarrows of cash for Mark Davis and turning the team over to managerial mediocrities Mike Ferraro and Billy Gardner.

His Atlanta success is likewise largely attributable to other people who laid the groundwork for him like Bobby Cox, Paul Snyder and Bill Clark. They are the ones who were entirely responsible for their tremendous farm system during the 90s.

[quote:6f94e2514c="LA Bear"]Great season...why did you drop a couple SPs late in the season?[/quote:6f94e2514c]

I didn't cut anyone, I traded B. Webb and J. Smoltz since I felt I was too right handed heading into the playoffs. It turned out to be a push either way. It didn't really hurt or help that much for the stretch run.

Man, I don't know but I have what I thought was a pretty decent, high OBP team at Kaufman hitting a brisk .228, and they just got shut out at home 3 times in a row.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me believe I know NOTHING about this damned game and keeps me awake at night.
