Sorry to get into this discussion late, but some thoughts.
I know you like the A-Rod/Pujols/Hafner trio, but that's too much power and not enough average and speed IMO to help you turn things around. I don't know which free agents are available, but I'd consider dropping Hafner, Damon, and Kendall and using the cash elsewhere. With w/ a catcher in the 07 game, I think you go expensive or cheap w/ good defense, not middle-of-the-road (Kendall) I'd go with Bard if he's available or someone like Blanco for the good defense/low cost option (have had and seen good success with either player).
W/ Damon, I think you can get better defense and similar production for less $ - like Patterson for example - will do well quite vs. RHP and good defense and fast.
You can create a good DH for a 1/3 of the cost of Hafner - like a combo of J. Cruz vs. LHP and R. Mackoviak (sp?) vs. RHP. Both have some speed too.
Where you're really hurting is pitching and Yankee Stadium plays more neutral or even pitcher friendly, which further works against the ARod/Pujols/Hafner trio. Also, IMO having more than 2 (or even 1!)expensive relievers is overkill in the 2007 game. So, I'd take the extra cash from Hafner, drop Zumaya and/or Felicano, drop Schilling and/or Pettite and try to remake your SPs. Some guys I've seen work well who may be available in your league are Josh Johnson ($4M and change) and Kelvim Escobar ($2M and change). Others to consider that might be available are Wakefield - kills lefties which one or two of the teams in our division have - and John Patterson for the right-hand dominant guys. As cheaper but effective RP options consider B. Tallet, J. Sanchez, CJ Wilson (vs. lefties) and R. Hernandez (vs. righties) if avilable.
Sorry for the long post. In short - not enough SPs and too many $$$ RPs.
Good luck.
