What occurs when you miss a live draft...

I used the live draft on my free 1986 team and then due to work ended up missing the draft...What I was left with was essentially table scraps.
Steve Sax, Keith Hernandez and bunch of nuthin...

It was an awful team with no hitting and even worse pitching...I started off the season 5-30, last in both hitting and pitching...I briefly considered leaving the team to die but decided it would be far more fun to try to piece a respectable team out of the remaining free agents...If you've played the 1986 season you know there's a scarcity of bats after the league leaders..

Bringing in guys like Shawon Dunston, Jeffery Leonard and Tim Laudner and reworking most of my pitching staff I've managed to go 44-41 since the 5-30 start..Still a lousy team, but the satisfaction from bringing back that putrid team I started with to respectability has been as gratifying as winning a division...

The best turnaround has been Mike Krukow..He started 1-9 even though he pitched decent..I just had NO offense...He has worked his way to a 12-11 record with a merely bad offense...
