What would you have done?

What would you have done?

Postby Palmtana » Sat Feb 11, 2006 9:56 am

I recently traded Huff (and others) for Figgins (and others). After we agreed on players through messaging I offered the trade. The Figgins owner was going to be out of town and would accept the next day. During that nights games Figgins was injured for 3 games.

The next day the Figgins owner accepted the offer. I know that generally there is not lag time between the offer and acceptance of a trade but would you have traded an injured player under these circumstances or would you have waited an extra day and then accepted the trade? Is there an etiquette to follow?

Thanks

I don't think it is a big deal. Both of you agreed upon a trade and he traded as soon as he could. He probably would have traded had it been Huff that was injured for 3 games instead of Figgins. If the injury was any longer than that it might be an issue but if you really wanted that player it is not a bid deal IMO. If you waited another day other players involved in the trade could have been injured and then when would the deal get done?

I probably would have waited a day but I don't think this was a big deal. You had already agreed to terms & timing and it was only a 3 day injury.

Perhaps the other owner simply signed on that day and accepted the deal. He may not even have know he had an injured player at that point.

All good points. We happened to play each other the night of the trade (last night actually) and I won all three. Talk about instant karma!

I'm no Randy Cohen, but I'm in with the "3 days is no big deal" camp.

I have accepted deals for injured players before and 3 is , to me , is no big deal. As a matter of fact I accepted one today for a guy that is out 1 game. He is tough against lefties and I face a rightie in game 1 :D .
