So what's the significance of a (*), really?

Does the (*) next to the runner's steal rating really pay dividends with the next player's (gb a+) turning into a single **?

The issue is this bear - HAL will hold this runner, because if not held, he automatically gets a lead.

On a GBX result, the holding fielderS get devalued one rating. Example:

runner* on 1st...LHB at plate...runner is held by 1B and SS according to the rules (1B and 2B if RHB). Why is the middle infield involved? SOmeone has to cover second - as in real life. Your "2" SS just became a "3" SS bro'...LHB slaps one into left fielf into the hole, and the * speedster ends up on 3rd.

Suggestion: for about $2 or something, you can buy the SOM rules from their website (mailed - no download). They take on more meaning if you play the board game a little bit though.
