Flawed '07 Pitching Staff

Postby STEVEPONEDAL » Wed Nov 12, 2008 8:41 pm

I can't tell with this pitching staff if wholesale changes are in order or a few tweaks or a little more time. I am in a Pitcher's Park and have given up the most runs in the league.

I play in Busch, there is a Chase, Comerica and Camden.

RHBs are doing quite well against Smoltz and Blanton which surprises me. I have never used Neshek before but I am surprised at how poorly he seems to be doing.

I have a Beimel for Tachner trade offer on the table and am thinking about trading Gorzo for a reverse lefty.

So far, I haven't dipped in to the FA pool while my division-mates have done some churning already.

Any reason to make big FA moves or just wait for the dice rolls to go my way?

Thanks

You are 11 games over .500, and your team is built around hitting. It looks to me like you spent less than 30 million on your staff(although I did not do the math). You usually get what you pay for. At least you are wining. I do not see a big problem if you continue at this pace. In fact I do not see a problem at all.

Very Helpful.

Yes, the narrow run differential was what was concerning me. And I didn't think I would sustain this lead once my hitters cool off.

This is the 1st time I have played in a Pitcher's Park and used some of these players.

Thanks

I agree. Redman is deadly against RHP, but he should not be in the lineup against lefties. And Bourne is very capable, but injury prone. You really need to pay attention to a player's injury chance, and if it is high, have a decent replacement. With an injury rating of 3 for Bourne I would have a backup in the million dollar or slightly less range. Coco Crisp, Jerry Owens, Cory Patterson, and Jason Tyner are a few that come to mind,... if available. Dave Roberts would be good but has a high injury rating himself. Raj Davis, Reggie Willits, and even Mark teahen could work depending on where you are playing Bourne. Your hitting looks like it can overcome your below average pitching. Just win baby. And have fun!
