Update on bullpen logic project

First of all, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year!

I wanted to give you an update to our ongoing efforts to improve the computer manager's bullpen logic. The project has lasted far longer than I had anticipated, but the good news is we are relatively close to deploying a new system for you to try out and enjoy. The focus group I am working with can attest to the progress we have been making, and the thoroughness with which we have been approaching the work.

At this point I can give you the following details. The new system will feature:

- a smarter internal core with slight-to-significant improvements to (for example) Slow/Quick Hook logic, and when to pull your starting pitcher

- a new bullpen controls interface which lets you define more specific Roles for your relievers, for example RH/LH Specialists, Tied & Late, etc.

- more clear descriptions of what controls do what

We're working on even more improvements and features than the above, but they're too experimental and incomplete for me to mention at this moment.

I'm hesitant to give you an ETA on a release, but I did want to at least give you an update on how we're progressing. Please note that the new system will be available only for the player sets under the main SOM Online site, namely: 2007 season and later, ATG III and later, and 1986.
