Releasing/Acquiring Players

Releasing/Acquiring Players

Postby beaster » Sun Jun 07, 2009 12:19 pm

I'm new to Strat-O-Matic online and in need of some advice...

I want to release multiple players (2-3) to acquire a single player. The problem I encounter is that the player I want to acquire costs more than any of the individual players I want to drop.

When I go to release a player I am prompted to the Free Agent Pool, but I don't have enough money to get the player I want. However, the combined value of the players I want to release is enough to pay for the player I want.

Is there a way I can drop players outright rather then having to pick one up immediately?

As long as you always have more than 24 players,2 catchers, and 5 SP's you can drop anyone w/o picking some one up.In the top right corner it will tell in black text that you can pick a player from the free agent pool or click right here without picking anyone up.If the text is red it will explain why you can't do the transaction.

Releasing players is not always the best option. In fact it is rarely the best option. I have done it, but I try to do it only in emergency, or injury situations, because you are losing value every time you do it. And the above poster made a great point, you can not go below 24 players, or 10 pitchers, or two catchers. Good luck!

If you have enough players to be able to drop multiple players to get one, it's probably a good idea. You want to go with 24 if at all possible, the only exception I would say is a team with a lot of injury players where you need multiple backups.
