Dumb Question about holding players out

Dumb Question about holding players out

Postby ashleyjoe » Fri Oct 02, 2009 10:10 am

I have found myself in position that I've rarely been in. I've clinched my division, and would like to hold out Rafeal Furcal, JD Drew, and Ryan Spillboroughs so they don't get injured for the playoffs. I had Furcal out of the lineup last night, but he was brought in as defensive replacement or pinch hitter in all three games. Is there a way to make these guys completely unavalable for tonight's games. I don't want to wake up tommorrow morning and  be without three starters.

Thanks

Well, I guess you could click on "don't ph for" vs both lh and rh on every individual card, and on the strategy page, you could designate a sub for "defensive replacement" at SS. I never tried this, but I guess it could work for your purposes.

BTW, don't forget after the season is done to come back to your old settlements.

For the players I absolutely do not want HAL using, I check the following options:

Avoid left-handed pitchers
Avoid right-handed pitchers
Avoid using as PH in blowouts

Of course if you select this for every bench guy, HAL will have to override the settings to put someone in, so I prioritize who is more important to protect from injury.

You could also as previously mentioned, select the Don't PH for vs. lefties/righties option for the players you are entering in the lineup to ensure they do not get taken out.

And also, I would like to reiterate how important it is to remember to undo the changes you make.

Thanks for the TIPS....It would be nice if there was a DNP - coach's decision box to check
