How long to your first championship? How often now?

out of the first 3 teams i had, i won two championships. ive had about 45 teams since then, no championships, 4 playoff appearences. thought it was easy. learned otherwise quickly! stick with it. i tend to experiment with different strategies.

Magnotti, keep the faith. My first team dominated the reg season, and was quickly eleimnated in first round. Struggled with the 2008 set, however last 2 finishes made playoffs (grand total of 3 playoff wins in 3 playoff series).

my winning percentages keep getting better and my teams are generally competitive.

My first 2 team have been with the 1999 set. I am thinking this wasn't such a hot idea now as the offense is so skewed, it is hard to gauge what is a decent player is a 12 team league. What set would you recommend to a beginner or are they all the same?

I'm not sure how the 1999 game compares with the 200X games but you could cut your learning curve costs in half by playing the 2005, 2006 or 2007 games. They take longer to fill but are discounted to $12.50.
