Why no love for Brian Wilson?

Why no love for Brian Wilson?

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Brian Wilson is the best value in the 2008 set. I've used him twice and it's allowed me to put $$$ to good use elsewhere.

1st line is from Chase, 2nd is from Progressive.

W-L S B IP H R ER BB K HR ERA WHIP
Wilson, Brian 5- 7 32 6 55.1 49 19 16 24 50 4 2.60 1.32
Wilson, Brian 3-5 17 7 53.2 61 23 20 21 59 5 3.35 1.53

The chase version, which I'm happier with, is thanks to the extra control that bullpen v2 gives. Have your results been different?

Those are some good results. What settings are you using? Closer vs Lefties? Are you checking off the avoid righties? 55 innings out of a 9L is at the very least interesting.

The settings I've been using are:

IBB less
don't use before inning 7
Closer as 1st role in list
Tied & 9th plus as last role in list

Combining that with defining roles (in order, in between) for other RP as:
setup
setup
tied&late
tied&late
behind&late
RH spec.
LH spec.
RH spec
middle
mopup
mopup
closer
middle

This got me use almost exclusively in the 9th in HAL save situations. I got 211 innings out of my super middle/setup guy & as close as I expect to get for my LH & RH specialists.

I have a few leagues where I have a super reliever (like Kuo) and then 3 -4 cheaper guys that can be effective closers vs R or L (like Wilson, Lindstrom, Rodney, Sherrill). I've noticed more than a few games where 2-3 of my 'closers' would pitch the 9th if there was a mixture of lefty and righty batters. It's worked pretty well for me so far, and I've only done this when I have a starting staff of *'s so I can get a 5th starter with a longer reliever rating to help out the pen and also carry an 11th pitcher.
