The Pot Open Scramble - 2008

Postby The Jerk Store » Tue Dec 01, 2009 2:53 pm

[b:713b0c95c8]12 team 80 M no DH[/b:713b0c95c8] (we can change that based on league majority though) [b:713b0c95c8]2008[/b:713b0c95c8] league with a 12 round board draft and then auto draft for the rest. Draft details are below, but here are a few rules (open to discussion):

* [b:713b0c95c8]No roster can have 2 or more players from the same MLB team[/b:713b0c95c8]. Everyones roster must consist of players from 24-28 different teams, depending on your roster size.

* [b:713b0c95c8]If you drop a player, you must add either a player from the same team or from a team that is not yet represented on your team[/b:713b0c95c8]. Same goes for trades, you cannot make a trade that will cause one or both teams to have multiple players from the same MLB team.

* Stadiums will be part of the draft - every team must have a [b:713b0c95c8]unique stadium.[/b:713b0c95c8]

* 12 round board draft will take place and will run a little differently than normal. We will get a randon sequence from the ATG board to determine draft order. The first round will go 1-12, the second will go 2-1, the third 3-2, up until the twelth round of 12-11. Each round will be for drafting a specific position only, where the person picking last in that round gets to pick the position from a list of remaining positions to be drafted. The board draft positions are C, C2, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF, SP, SP2, SP3, SP4, pure RP, pure RP2, and CP. Stadiums will be chosen the same round someone designates as the pure RP round or in the last round if no one designates pure RP. When you draft a position player, that player either has to play the position you drafted him at or as DH (if we go with a DH). For example, Pujols is technically a 2B as well as a 1B in the 2008 set. If you draft him in the 2B round, he can't play 1B for your team.

In this draft, everyone gets the first pick of a round and everyone gets the chance to screw someone elses first pick by picking a position that might not be too beneficial to have the top pick in or where the best player at that position is from a MLB team that the #1 picker already has represented on his team. I added more categories than rounds so the people who are towards the end of choosing categories aren't stuck with limited choices.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments, and if intereseted sign up below. It's best if participants regularly check the boards at least once a day, so processes do not get slowed down:

Not sure I understand the part about naming the position when you are the last pick. Are you saying that if I am 12th in the first round, I then get to name the position being drafted in round 2? If so, I dont think C2 should be there as it is nothing like any of the other positions available. And how do you handle SP, SP2, SP3, SP4 ? Does this mean that SP2 has to be more expensive than SP 3 and less expensive than SP?

If you are the 12th pick in the first round, you get to name the position that gets drafted THAT round (the first round).

The positions are certinaly open to debate, I just put C2 on there because I know 2 catchers are required for each team. And there wouldn't be any monetary limits on SP/S2/S3/S4, just that a player with the last pick could choose to name starting pitching as the round focus after it has been named once, twice, three times . . . like I said, format is open to debate but I envisioned it as a kind of "sh*t on your neighbor" type of draft in a sense.
