Did I screw up?

I sent a trade offer that I later decided to cancel. There was no response from the other guy so I went ahead and "deleted" the trade offer. Now, will deleting the trade offer necessarily delete it from the recipient? "Rescind" is normally what I do but I forgot. Anyhow, will my trade offer stand for the recipient or won't it?

If you just deleted the message, then yes, the trade offer will still be out there. I would send the owner a message asking him to not accept the offer, just to be safe.
