Post poor in-game relief decisions here

Bernie, I see in the '06 game we are required to draft 11 pitchers. As if this is going to solve the problem. If you go through the posts I've entered here, you will see that none of them are due to too many restrictions on the bullpen are from fatigued bullpens. Having extra pitchers may be a good strategy for some depending on the makeup of their staffs, but it is not going to be a panacea and I think it's a bit simplistic to think that it is.

I never said it would solve the problem.

As I said in last Friday's Q&A session:

Sorry that I haven't been as publicly involved in the study as I intially wanted to; turns out there wasn't enough time to do it justice before I had to focus on releasing the new game. But all the posts were VERY helpful in finding spots to put my diagnostic traces in. My preliminary findings are that 1) yeah, many cases were examples of user settings that were too restrictive, and 2) poor communication of what the settings actually do on our part. One example of the latter point is that I think that setting a pitcher to be your Closer will mostly keep him for the 9th inning, and I heard a few complaints about Closers not coming in to save a crucial 8th inning situation.[/quote:8b0506e098]
I also do find the game's propensity to pull starters early a bit peculiar. I believe it would help, but never did I state that drafting 11 pitchers would solve the problem.

I fully intend to follow through on this study and take appropriate action in the coming months.

Okay, thanks for the response Bernie. Glad to hear you're still looking at this.

Hey Bernie...

I think this might need to be looked at.

Game-1969
Team Name- House of the Rising Sun
Game #- 99
What happened- Bottom of the 9th, I'm up. Closer setting is blank. Setup vs. LH's is Roland, setup vs. RH's is Wegener. Roland pitched 2/3 of an inning the previous game. HAL has Pina come in, a hard RH to close out the 9th vs. lefties Staub, Yaz and Colbert.
