Thoughts on $100M team pre-waivers

OK...rarely do I post a team for opinions, but this just-drafted team has me facing some interesting decisions. Stadium is Fenway.

I missed big on my pitching, except in the bullpen. Starter-wise I'll be keeping Jimenez, Outman and Hanson...not too bad, although none of them were on my draft card :? . Clearly I'll be replacing Matusz and LeBlanc (has anyone ever had success with him?).

I missed on my 3B, and Hal gave me Reynolds. He kills lefties, but leaves something to be desired v righties. Just not sure if dropping him for what's left out there makes sense...maybe his HR-potential keeps him on my team? He's also the weak-spot defensively, so he's my toughest decision right now.

I originally planned a Catalanatto/Evans platoon at DH, but with all the misses I had for my pitching I may now have a lot of cash on hand to improve there. I may wait until post-waivers though, depending on how much money I have left after upgrading my starting pitching.

Would love to hear feedback

Tom,

There doesn't seem to be a lot of choices in SPs. Don't worry too much about upgrading a lot there, but I would get 6 total SPs, and get #5 and #6 to match up well with a team or two. I'd look in to Jonathan Sanchez, since he has 0 bpSI, great for Fenway, and then get two righties. Maybe get a BAL R and a BAL L (Stauffer and Masterson?).

For relievers, I'd definitely look into Vargas (0 bpSI v. left) or Guzman (0 bpSI both ways) over Sanches, maybe even get both. Then you can drop Aardsma for Marmol, another 0 bpSI guy.

The hitters are looking pretty good. Mauer, Votto, Jeter, Cabrera, and Span are all definitely keepers. I'd keep either Drew or Sweeney for RF, but not both. The DH platoon you suggested won't hit enough at 100M, though I do favor platoon at higher salary caps.

That means you need a new 3B, CF, and DH. How about Figgins (and maybe a platoon partner) at 3B, Granderson or Jones and C. Young in CF as a platoon, and Billy Butler to DH and backup at 1B?

Good luck in waivers.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Other parks are Landshark, another Fenway, and Citi (I think...I'm writing this from work so don't have ability to double-check).

You both mention Jonathon Sanchez, I'll have to look into him...I think I only had him once this year, and that was a two-team theme where I had the Giants pitching, so wasn't really by design.

I feel incapable of putting together anything other than .500 teams (+- .010) with this set for some reason. And of course I just keep using the same philosophy over and over, hoping for different results (isn't that the definition of insanity? hmmm).
