For my team before the season starts Monday. I've never been one to ask what other people think but my results say I should, so tell me what you think

I think, for the most part, this is a solid team, which (like most teams) has its flaws.

As to your starting staff, I think Lester is an excellent ace card, and I think Gonzalez and Carmona are solid under 4 * starters, but I think Santana gives up too much power against lefty hitters.

In your bullpen, I think Rivera is a great card but overpriced, considering solid and cheaper closers like Marmol, Bailey, and Rodriguez are usually available. Same goes for Hensley who is an excellent setup guy but a little pricey when cheaper but not much worse options like Sanches, Ramirez and Casilla can be had.

As to your lineup: You did an excellent job getting both Pujols and Fielder as the center of your lineup. I think Cervelli and Pierzynski are both excellent offensive deals..although you have to be cool with their defensive drawbacks. I'm not crazy about Rhymes' and YOung's defense, although Young is a solid offensive deal for the price...and I really like Reyes.

I also really like your outfielders, and Gomez is a particularly good deal with his offense, defense, and speed at a very low price. However, for Chase field, I would prefer a little more pop. Also considering the money invested in them..you just have too many outfielders.

Anyway, this is a solid team that takes a sound approach to its organization, even if its not exactly the approach I would take.

Good luck on what should be a successful season.

I agree with the above poster that, you basically have a solid team (but what do I know...).

I know it is a little late, but I would never spend so much money on relief pitchers, they just do not get enough innings to make spending all that money on them worthwhile. (Like the above poster) I prefer to spend 2-4 million on a closer, and 2-4 million on a set up guy, and then getting a bunch of one million (or cheaper) relievers. This allows you to pour more money into your starting pitchers and your lineup.

One other observation, you have spent more on your backup/role players than most seasoned GMs do. This is something I like to do as well. But you need to make sure that if you are spending a million bucks on a backup (as opposed to .50 to .60 like most successful veteran GMs) that they serve a good purpose for your team. For instance if one of the guys in your everyday lineup is injury prone, than yes spending more on a backup player makes sense. Or if you are using a platoon like at C, it makes sense. Otherwise you want to put all your money in the players who play the most.

I realize your league has already started, and it is a little late to switch it up now. Hopefully you will be fine. Remember no matter how well or poorly you build your team, luck is a major factor. With that in mind, GOOD LUCK! And remember to have fun and enjoy the experience.

Hey thanks guys for the input. I like the way this team looks bit who knows, if I have a good year then sweet if not oh well I'll be back I was introduced to SOM online not too long ago and this is already my 5th team. Played strat since I was 6 and was overjoyed to hear about this.

Like I said thanks and I didn't check this thing in time but the advise you gave me and I can and will try to apply to future teams.
