Trades are too hard to make work in the current constraints we have.
As I have said before, I would love to see a way to have drops as part of a trade. I dont know how many times i have tried to offer a trade, but cant make the money work out.
BUT, if i could drop/add players as part of a trade, it would make trading a lot easier.
If I wanted to trade Chino Smith(9.25) for Frank Robinson(9.45), but I dont have .20m in Cash Available, it wouldnt work. But if I could drop my backup 2b, Irv Hall(.80) and pick up Duane Kuiper(.58) as PART of the trade, then the money would work. IT would be just a part of the trade page---"Drop/Add players as part of this trade offer here", or something
Hall is a better defender and I would not want to drop him for Kuiper if the manager didnt accept the trade, hence the reason of including the drop/add in the trade. The drop/add goes down simulatneously as the trade, so there is no problem with the $$$
Or could be used when trading a position player for a Starting pitcher. Many times this will result in an illegal trade by relegating one team to only 4 SPs, which is against roster rules.
To trade, say, Greg Maddux for Honus Wagner, I would have to find a SP on the opposing manager's team, then find a position player on my team and HOPE that the salary works out, and ALSO HOPE that the added players to the deal dont make it disagreeable to the opposing manager.
But if I could trade Greg Maddux to another manager for Honus Wagner, while simultaneously dropping Ernie Andres and picking up Tim Conroy, the trade would not be illegal and could be consummated.
