J-Pav- Thanks, I had read your formula before and generally follow that when putting together teams. It does work to an extent, all of the teams I put together using those principles are at least around .500. However, I still see lots of winning teams that are completely the opposite and if used in real life would be lucky to finish with 80 wins. Again, that's not all bad, if SOMO was just a 100% replay of real life it wouldn't be much fun.
Having said that, it still seems like SOMO is too random. As for ballparks and pitching matchups, sometimes the results make sense and sometimes they dont. SOMO is still fun, I'm just saying its more of a test of "SOMO" knowledge (and skill) then of baseball knowledge. There are other games out there that feel more like a test of baseball skills rather than a test of your knowledge of the specific game you are playing.
