An example of an injury NOT carrying over to the finals

An example of an injury NOT carrying over to the finals

Please, I need some good feedback on this one:

My opponent for the finals of our 1969 series had a player, Bobby Murcer, get injured in his game 4 playoff round for an additional 2 games. He won that game 4 to take his series 3 games to 1 over his opponent. It took me 5 games, an extra day in SOM world, to win my series in the first round of playoffs.

However, Murcer was in his lineup, and hitting a 3 run homer against me, in game 1 of the finals. I thought that an injury in the playoffs would carry over to the next round. Am I mistaken, or is this not the case? Murcer DID NOT sit out HIS next 2 games, although 2 SOM days passed, one for my extra game 5 and a day of rest before the finals started, but that argument is [b:240cabbf5b]not[/b:240cabbf5b] the case for injuries in the regular season carrying over to the first round of playoffs.

Case in point, a player of mine, Jim Price, missed the first 4 games of my first round playoff when he ended the regular season with an injury that occurred previously. The 2 SOM off days before the playoff round did not reduce his injury by 2 games.

It appears to me that SOM has made a mistake. And if not, and the injury doesn't carry over, then that policy needs rethinking and reworking. I believe that Murcer should have had to sit out 2 games.

Respond please.

Thank you in advance,
Quinn

It's kind of misleading, but that was not a mistake.

It really should say 2 days, not games. A rest day counts toward reducing injury time.

As far as your example, check the game in which Price got hurt. I'd bet it did not say injured for 4 games in the boxscore, or else he would have only missed the first 2 games of the playoffs.

He gets credit for all games scheduled. If the team wins in 4 then all players are credited with game 5. He would get the rest days and be ready to go for the Finals.
That should be the same for Rice. Take another look at the regular season injury to Rice. He should also be credited with the days off before the first series takes place. It would show on his card just how many games he would miss into the post season. You will have to look at the game he was injured during the regular season and do the math.
I hope this helps as mistakes are few in this game except for HAL statergy being kind of funky at times.

Thanks for the clarification. You are right on the money. I went back and did the math on Price and he was credited with 2 days of recovery when the season ended. Totally my bad in not checking the facts first before I went into a rant and posted it. Uh,... oops.

In happier news, no homers for Murcer in game 2 of the series; he took the collar going 0 for 5 and stranding 4 runners and my squad was able to knot up the series at a game apiece.

Thanks for the correction. A bit foolish, but a bit wiser,
Sophomoric in deed,
