Petco Players?

Postby JohnnyBlazers » Sat Apr 08, 2006 9:33 pm

who do you think would fit best in this park? Low BPHR's, Good OBP, Speed. Any suggestions on players who fit the mold in this park?

Johnny - Don't forget about the importance of positive clutch ($) and non-HR extra base hits (doubles & triples) in a park like Petco. If you've got (or can get) the 2005 season stats in spreadsheet form, I'd run a calculation on which players have the highest percentages of doubles and triples.

It's early, but this team is off to a good start.

Pitchers with more *HRs and walks and singles; less doubles and triples.

Hitters, as was said.

Thanks for the input. When I start with a Petco team I try to be strong up the middle with good D, and select hitters with lots of doubles. I like to have at least 1 or 2 boppers in there with some natural HR's (I don;t mind the BPHR's on a 11,10 or 3,4 roll). WHat do you think of Utley in this park? What about Griffey?

We are post draft and have to make some moves to shore up my bullpen. Comments anyone? Thanks!

My personal opinion...

In a pitchers park where EVERY hit counts, I like to have a 1 or 2 CF defensively.

While this is probably Griffey's best card in a LONG time, I don't like the 3 in CF.

I'm using him on a Coors team right now, but I bring in a defensive sub in the late innings.

I got Grif as the Dh with Kotsay in CF. Are there better hitting options than Griffey @petco for the price (or for Utley for that matter?). I would play Utley @1B. Taveras is also availavble @CF if I need to free up $$$ for another bullpen guy. Thoughts?
