1ST US CELL TEAM

To add to my earlier comments (now that some of the personnel has changed) Jason Michaels is a very poor fit for US Cell. He has fairly good on base but almost no # to take advantage of the park. I like Luis Castillo for your team because his 6L helps balance out Piedra's and Valentin's imbalances and Castillo does have good # against lefties. Abreu is still somewhat iffy in my view due to not having much # for a high-priced player but it depends what else is available.

With 3.19mil available I'd cut Michaels right away and pick up another LF for up to 7mil who at least somewhat fits the park. A lot depends upon who's available but I would think most anyone would be better than Michaels as he has almost no # and in the OF you can almost always find hitters with decent amount of #.

As for moving base-runners over on an out I simply don't want an out and I'd take any sort of on base chance increase rather than care one bit about strikeout vs other type of out. Hitting cards don't have much gbC anyway so whether a hitter has a lot of strikeout or not doesn't make much difference at all for moving baserunners from 1st to 2nd and you won't be scoring much on sac flies in US Cell. I agree that you want to be careful about having too low of on base so you don't want guys with a decent amount of # if they don't get on base but Dunn, Glaus, and Edmonds are great on base in addition to great # especially if you include a # as mostly on base (as it is in US Cell) and Valentin and Piedra are good on base and good # against righties. If you can replace Michaels I think you'll hit a good number of HR's and be at or near the top in scoring (depending upon other teams' extreme make-ups).

Oh yeah, Bay instead of Abreu would be a huge positive and help your run scoring in a huge way. I don't at all like having a high priced player with low # in US Cell as that's just not fitting the park so just by default leadoff has some decent # and I'm fine with that. Even leadoff hitters often have men on base especially if your last two batters don't have high # (due to being 2B and SS where it's tough to find a lot of #).

As for actually setting the lineup I go with a simple approach in US Cell -- the higher on base the higher in the lineup they are, since at least the first 7 in the lineup will have good amounts of # and I don't care about speed there's no special lineup considerations. The only real lineup consideration I make is that if I have a high double play batter (a lot of gbA on the card) then I'll try to bat him first if he has good on base. Also, I might make some minor lineup adjustments due to clutch, overall batting average, etc. but these would be minor. Other than double plays the biggest lineup adjustment I make would be to try not to stack too many lefties or righties together so that it's tougher for my opponent to spot relief specialists. Also, I adjust my lineup from day to day based upon my opponent's pitchers; if I face a 5R pitcher then I'll move my lefty hitters up somewhat, etc.
