Take a look at the pitchers in your division and the rest of the league and you can decide if it is worth having your platoon vs righty on occasion have an at bat vs a lefty reliever. I still think it is worth it with your home park being Safeco.

Chen for the money is a good value (especially if you can stomach him giving up some bombs). Not sure it helps for you to save money by picking up Chen to add to your offense... Your call on that one.
