IS THIS CHEATING?

Have you experienced a 'Quick Change' manager?

^^ We were hoping some people wouldn't think of it. :D There has been a kind of "if you don't talk about it, it doesn't exist" philosophy I believe.

[quote:237a29ff9b="Terry101"]The poll should be changed to: Is it cheating? or Should the rules be changed? I think it is very unsportmanlike. If you read the rules that Strat gives you with the board game it is obvious that the other manager should always be aware and have the opportunity to be prepared for the actual pitcher pitching that day.

It all depends on the intent. Obviously if you get home at just before the deadline and set your pitchers- thats one thing- but to [b:237a29ff9b]intentionally[/b:237a29ff9b] deceive the opposing manager is low, maybe not technically "cheating" but it is a low move.

If you change pitchers, lets say your only righty pitching that day from a 6R to a 7L it would be good to send a pm or message to the opposing manager- at least letting him know the change.

This rule should be changed to an 8pm pitcher declaration and the same deadline as it is now for lineups.[/quote:237a29ff9b]

Hmmm - isn't it just as bad to [b:237a29ff9b]intentionally[/b:237a29ff9b] set the whole lineup according to the pitcher(s) the opponent is using?

I see no problem at all with this, and don't think there should be different deadlines for pitchers and batters, that would devalue the pitchers and take away a lot of strategy from [b:237a29ff9b]Strat[/b:237a29ff9b]-o-matic[/b]

[quote:c830628c99="Terry101"]The rule in "real life" in MLB is -name your pitcher then lineups- not the other way around as AZ Hawg pointed out.
However, it is obvious that people will use the flaw in the rules to their advantage. Still, wouldn't it be better to have the pitchers set by 8pm? Then it would reflect the way it should be done.
The way it is now, it would be like a mlb manager turned in is lineup card based on the rule that the opposing manager has to name his pitcher. Then the manager trotted out a different pitcher. In other words it is perfectly right to name the pitcher then do the lineups. And the opposite is never done. I think it is sneaky but I understand if it is done. Should we have a change to pitchers set at 8pm. That is the question.[/quote:c830628c99]

Never done?!? How about the frequent one-pitcher-one batter approach used by many managers later in the game in real life, should we ban that, too?

Is putting Lenny Dinardo on the DL just because he stinks cheating?
