How Does This Sound?

Instead of coldly reading the box scores every day, having the game played out in a java-based graphics presentation? After clicking on the game (to which the outcome is still unknown) you then see a field (as you see on Yahoo, ESPN, SI). Then over a 3-5 minute span of time, see the game unfold graphically. At least this would make the process a bit more exciting (much like the real thing) rather than just gazing at the stats (but that could remain an option). Anyone agree :?:

That would be really cool but I am sure it is too expensive or something for TSN to ever do.

It probably would lead to more complaints of "why did you pinch hit for that guy?", "why did you try to steal there?" and the like. When you get to see the play by play as it happens it makes bonehead managerial moves even that much more obvious.

Like I said, "just like the real thing". Instead of screaming at our TV screens, we'll be screaming at the computer screens! And how about when the moves which correllate with your plan. I mean, this would give this game the only things it sorely misses,...anticipation, excitement, action. As far as expense goes, if it attracts more users (and I think that feature could really set this game apart), it can more than cover any added expense. *Also, I'm not talking about pitch-by-pitch coverage, just play-by-play. Nothing too fancy (none of the crowd cheers, sounds of the bat, umpires, etc). I haven't played the SOM computer version for many years, but something like that, though even simpler would be fine.

If it is indeed too cost-prohibitive, how about just having this feature apply to post-season games?

Or for a little more than the price of one team, why not get the CD-ROM 2006 card set and play the games? I do a lot less of this now that I can join NetPlay Leagues or form my own vs. HAL.

This is a different type of Strat, which emphasizes GM skills as much as game management.

Nice idea, but I barely have the time to scan the stats, make appropriate changes and get the heck to work! And if it meant TSN having to charge more for Strat, as it inevitably would, my vote would have to be a resounding no.

"...why not get the CD-ROM 2006 card set and play the games?"

Because that would not offer the competitive element of me managing against 11 other managers (who are constantly evolving, changing strategies, trading players, changing line-ups, platooning, etc).

Cost may be a factor for some, but others may feel it would be worth a few extra bucks. Why not have 2 versions, 2 types of leagues. One with graphics, one without (with the different prices applied). I don't see how adding some computer code, some server space, and some graphics (already used in the 'home' version game) should be so much more expensive anyway.
