My team in a slump

Postby Brut300 » Thu Jun 01, 2006 7:38 am

so you basically have a 4 man rotation? Should i dump bonderman and upgrade weaver? Weaver hasn't let up too many runs.

Should i just get a defensive minded CF (maybe shawn green) and bat him 8th?

Burnitz i have on my team incase of injury and for Pinch Hitting

I got schilling on my team incase of injury

Wilson is just on my team to fill a roster spot (i have him in mop up)

What is a platoon guy? for crawford? I'm just getting into baseball this year so i don't know a lot of strategy and lingo. Baseball is the 4th best sport (in terms of popularity) where i am originally from.

Thanks for your help

I didn't do all the math yet but is this my best plan of attack?

Drop bonderman and Burnitz and clark........pick up Shawn green, use the remaining money to upgrade schilling (to a better reliever) pending that I don't have to pick up anymore players to fill roster spots?

I would:

Drop Bonderman AND Schilling. You don't need them both.

Pick up a $.50 SP. You aren't going to use him, so don't worry about his stats. Make sure he's only a starter.

Dump Burnitz as well. You have 3 OF's that can only get hurt for 3 games max. When you have 3 OF's like this, you can get away with a $.50 backup/PH.

Crawford is a 4R.
He hits RH's significantly better than LH's. He should sit vs. LH's and have a $.50-$1.00 million guy that hits LH's take his spot. ie. Kapler/Byrnes

Next time around, if you've got players with 600 PA's (plate appearances), you need to conserve $ by using the $.50 backups. Nevin, Hairston and Burnitz are wasted $ spent.

Kennedy who has less than 600 PA's can go down for up to 15 games. He should have a higher priced backup. Carroll isn't bad for the price, but he's better vs. LH's and he's a 3 defensively. Cora is a better choice.

There are still some decent CF's left for you. The problem is Clark's OB is hard to replace. If you free up enough cash, I'd try to grab Duffy or Kotsay. Duffy can leadoff for you both ways, and Kotsay is a good bargain. If you go with Kotsay, you should have Crawford at least leadoff vs. RH's.

What is so bad about clark?

Duffy only had like 150 At bats
Kotsay will make five errors while Clark will only make 2

Shawn green will make zero errors and has an OBP of 355 so he could lead off.

Is there something else i should be looking at in terms of fiedling besides errors?

i picked up eli morrero to hit vs lefty pitchers in place of crawford.

I moved adam kennedy to lead off...followed by
Crawford
Guerroro
Konerko
Tejada
Glaus
Lopez
Kotsay

once i have glaus and lopez back in my lineup.........i will move kotsay to 2nd hitter and put moerrero as my 8th hitter. Vs leftys.
