I love this game and think the world of Mr. Richman (get your hands on Glenn Guzzo's book "Strat-O-Matic Fanatics" if you play this game and don't already worship Hal Richman) but as much as I bleed Strat, driving 3 hours to the northshore of Long Island in a snowstorm and standing outside in subfreezing temps for a few hours to receive my new cards isn't exactly my idea of a day at the beach.

I sure wish the powers that be down in Glen Head would see fit to run Strat's annual Opening Day like the celebration it deserves to be. Why not do it on a Saturday rather than a Friday -- at a hotel -- and turn it into a weekend long event? Tournaments, meet and greets with famous Stratheads like Keith Hernandez and lots of opportunities for making friends and meeting kindred souls.

How wonderful would that be?

I don't get the cards myself, but I had to switch days off with my employee so he can make the trip from RI. I hate working Fridays!!! But only a strat fanatic can understand, which is why he asked me instead of my biz partner.

I agree, find some other strat fans, pick a local hotel in the area and have the cards delivered. Then I would say do a Strat Party weekend- beer/pizza/wings and a 24 hour tournament.

Yes, but the local Glen Head ordinances require that he be kept on a leash at all times.
