Real Teams 2007 Part 2 We Need A Replacement

We need a replacement, Cubit is MIA.

Hi,

I am looking to run a base team league again for the 5th year (this will be for the new cards that are coming out in a few weeks). It will be 80 mil. salary and is a DH league.

The Rules:

1. You must keep at least 20 players that played for your base team in 2006 on your roster at all times during the season (a 2 for 1 trade might change that but by game time you have to have 20 players from your base team).
2. Play in the home park of your base team.
3. You can spend up to 4 mil for a player that used to play for your base team in the Draft, Free Agent/Waivers & trading pool (a couple of examples Clemens 11.28 mil. would have been off limits to the Yankees, Redsox, & Blue Jays cause his salary was over 4 mil. in last years set. Soriano 2.71 would have been avaible to the Yankees cause he was below 4 mil.
4. You can spend up to 2 mil for a player that has never played for your team in the Draft, Free Agent/Waivers & trading pool.
5. Trades work the same way if a player played for your team you can use up to 4 mil to trade for him, if he never played for your team you can only use up to 2 mil to acquire him.
6. If during the auto draft you somehow get a player that is carded with another teams’ base team you must release him asap.
7. All players carded for a base team belong to that team for the year. If someone has the A’s and there is a player that is carded to the A’s in the Free Agent list only the A’s may pick that player up. (Unless a team would like to renounce their rights to a player).
8. All players belong to the team that is listed on their card for the whole year.
9. You can only use players that played for your base team in 2006 to count towards your 20 number (ie Soriano is counted as a Nat not a Cub).
10. You can’t have a player playing on your team that is from another base team in the league unless there has been a trade or their rights have been renounced.

Some interesting reading past real teams winners:

The actual season is listed not the Strat year

2002 Mariners over Astros 7G (actual WS champ Angels)
2003 Braves over A's 4G (Marlins)
2004 Astros over Twins 5G (Redsox)
2005 Braves over Yankees 6G (Whitesox)

1.Page2-The Yankees
2. ARay0113 - The Mets
3. AF Dickie - Marlins
4. keyzick - Twins
5. Branham Biggers - Braves
6. bluethree - Phillies
7. Sykes - Tigers
8. Harry-RedSox
9. BoDean-Cardinals
10. Deelyo - Angels

Okay so basically, you reserve the right to pick up any F.A. that was on your 2006 team....nobody else can pick them up as F.A. However you can trade for any player? Does the salary restrictions apply in trades, i.e. can I trade for Clemens assuming I have a team he was never on, even though his salary is above 2mil? Who keeps track of what players used to be on what teams? It seems like that would be difficult or some players.

Okay I read it again and I answered my own question about salaries with trades (works the same as F.A.s). And after your 20 base players (from your 2006 club), you can pickup any player that is not on another base team in the league. Am I right?

Hi Ducapa,

You can pick up any FA player that is not on a base team, under 2 conditions:
1. spend upto $4 mil. if he used to play for your base team (ex. I, having the Yankees, could pick up Pettitte $1.38 mil. but not Clemens $6.05 mil.)
2. you can pick up any player under $2 mil.

I'll sleep on it. I was about to say yes, but I realized the Twins were taken (for some reason I thought they weren't). I'm thinking Astros, but I am not really liking the teams left. Was there a draft order, and was Cubit last? Can we redraft teams so I am not stuck with the leftovers?

Hi Ducapa,

There is no draft. You just pick a team then go through the auto draft process, knowing that you have the rights to all the players on your base team and can fill in the holes with the $4 mil. and $2 mil. limits.

No, I meant a draft to pick your base team. Who had irst pick, and was Cubit last? Can we repick base teams unles Cubit was in fact 12th.

Hi Ducapa,

We can't repick the base teams that wouldn't put us any farther along than we are right now. All teams that the 11 other owners haven't picked are up for grabs.

Sorry for the confusion. Just wondering how the 11 teams were picked, and if the open spot was 12th in the picking order, or he just got skipped. I would want a fair shot to get a top team just like everybody else had. If you tell me Cubit was 12th in the picking order then that is fine, but if he was say first and got skipped thats a different story. Just let me know if he was 12th, but if not it would be fair that I get his original draft spot if I agree to join.....then you have 12 and are further along thenyou are now.
Just let me know either way, so I can decide.

Thanks

Oh, and we can have a 28 man roster?

Hi Ducapa,

There was no draft order for teams it was first come first serve, here is the way people signed up:

1. Page2-The Yankees
2. ARay0113 - The Mets
3. AF Dickie - Marlins
4. keyzick - Twins
5. Branham Biggers - Braves
6. bluethree - Phillies
7. Sykes - Tigers
8. Harry-RedSox
9. BoDean-Cardinals
10.Cubit- White Sox
11. Deelyo - Angels
12. Jack- Indians

I think that TSN lowered the limit to 27 players, but if its still 28 then yes you can have 28 guys on your team.
