I guess that depends on just how active you are with your team.
I'm constantly tweaking my team whether it be the LUs or the way HAL utilizes my SPs or my bully. I'm always trying to get the absolute best that my team is capable of. It doesn't matter to me how many wins I can get with my initial settings, I want the best I can get out of my team.

I am an avid fan of the 80's game but I've still found challenge in the original. I'd say that unless you've won the championship in every league you have been in, then you're missing out on the joy of the regular game.

Just my thoughts,
Tyber

I agree with you there, trading has always been difficult with strat online.
I would love to see a system that makes trading much more favorable than the FA market. The same problem is rife in the 80's game though.
I've watched soooo many teams destroy themselves by going to the FA well too often and too early that it makes me ill somestimes.

Keeping it fun...

Postby cummings2 » Thu Nov 03, 2005 8:46 pm

I like to try a certain strategy with each team I play, I choose the stadium and design the team with that in mind and I hold on to that "philosophy" throughout the season. Sometimes the strategy is quite simple: Run-Run-Run, some other times is a bit more subtle...little experiments, different stadiums, platoons, different players...you start finding cards you particularily like...before each series you match your team with the opposite, sometimes you can tell you'll get creamed and find out that some unsuspected player came through, for example, the other day Pokey Reese hit a Slam in the bottom of the 9th vs Gagne and I won the game by two runs. Little things like that will keep it fresh.

Another thing I do is keep an eye on certain teams, learn from them, I had a really cool league where I was in the same division with Ineluki, abner and worrierking...they mopped the floor with me, but they're class acts and fun to play with. A little variety will go a long way for me.

You are right about some players needing to have more fun with the game...it's like everything, some really cool cats are always to be found!

I'm with you there gored. I'd love nothing more than to see a system set up where owners could play head to head in real time with all the decisions that come with it. Setting such a system up though would be quite challenging. It would definately have to involve forming leagues by time zones and what not. I'm not saying that it would be impossible BUT the potential financial upside would have to be substantial before TSN would look into it.

BTW, I too totally destroyed my first 80's team by going the FA route too quickly and too often.

if you are bored during the season, it is perhaps an effect of the cap---you lose so much money with making transactions that it's not a viable options. That is why you should join our NO CAP LEAGUE (see other post). You will have about 60M left to make any move you'd like during the season.

Searching for the Cure?

Create and/or join theme leagues.....

They don't hafta get all crazy with the rules, here are some examples of 3, very easy leagues to fill

1. Straight live draft on Penngrays site (usually 16 or 26 rounds)
2. Position draft (usually 12 or 16 rounds, again, on penngrays site)
3. Team Theme draft (usually 4, sometimes 8 rounds with split squads)

Keep the rules simple, allow for transactions with 100 mill cap space, allow trading (atleast some anyway)

Or, create your own theme league, just try and keep the rules somewhat simple, more rules, less interest, just remember that
