Orlando Cabrera

Orlando Cabrera

Postby RICHARDMILTER » Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:03 pm

Is Orlando Cabrera way over priced? I am using Kauffman, and I did not receive the SS I was after. He is available, but I have to make up my mind quick! Waivers are being run in a few hours. Thanks for any help, or suggestions.

I'd pass on Cabrera. I haven't seen him do a whole lot better than the lines posted above. 7mill is a lot for a glove even at ss

I almost forgot he can't get hurt. That is worth an extra million bucks,..but I still do not think he is worth the money,... in any situation. I appreciate the advice but I think I will move in a different direction. Possible Renteria, however he can and will, get hurt.

Yeah, if you're building your team around defense and pitching and are in a pitcher's park, O-Cab is almost worth it. I have him at RFK, and through 111 games:

.230/.289/.292; 17 2B; 8 SBs; 4 errors. The most surprising statistic is that he has 54 RBIs.

He's probably not worth the $$, but my team's in 1st place right now, so I have to think he has something to do with that.

It depends on the rest of your team, as it always does. It's all about context, Rmilter, and you keep asking in generalities. If you have some cheap, good top of the order guys like Figgins, Taveras or Redman, the cash might be well spent on Cabrera, as you can bat him low. Ditto the pitchers. If you have cheap pitchers and an offensive team where he can bat number eight and anchor the defense, he may be worth it. However, if you expect him to make a sizable offensive contribution(top of the order), I don't think he is capable.

I have Taveras and Redman on the team I'm talking about, and I do bat Cabrerea lower (6th vs. L, 9th vs. R)
