Mel Hall

Mel Hall

Postby BeltranFebles » Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:47 pm

Mel Hall is the manager of my team that starts play on Monday. Is there anyway I can replace him as manager?

Also, does this team have a chance to win? What do we need?

FORT WORTH, Texas — Testimony continues in the punishment phase of former major league outfielder Mel Hall's sexual assault trial.

Jurors were hearing testimony Wednesday about Hall, 48, who was convicted the day before of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl he coached on an elite basketball team. He faces up to life in prison after being convicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child.

Hall's 13-year major league career ended in 1996. He hit .276 with 134 home runs and 620 RBIs in a career that included stints with the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants. He also played four years in Japan.

I actually thought Hall was a great clutch hitter, and liked the fact that he followed his own drummer and did his own thing -- baby tiger in the clubhouse, said what he thought.

But this disgusts me. Shame on him beyond reason. I hope they put him away for the rest of his life.

I hope he rots in prision.

If you e-mail stratomatic@sportingnews.com, I'm sure Bernie would have no problem changing the manager name of your team.

I already told the "I'm Mel Hall story", once in a different post, but what the heck.

When Mel Hall played for Cleveland or New York, he was on a air plane in the off season. He was flying coach and decided to ask the steward if he could get an upgrade to 1st class. The steward replied that he did not have a 1st class ticket. That is when the pedophile said," But I'm Mel Hall!". The lady replied,"WHO?"......The story sounds funnier when I tell it.

I always thought that TRUE story was funny. And indicative of his personality. But in retrospect, it is very sad. I had no idea he is/was a sicko.

Team

I am going to try and get rid of him. I always liked him as a player but had no idea what a scumbag he is.

Anyway, how good is this team?

Am I better served by going with a Sandoval/Ardoin C platoon or does it make sense to cash Sandoval in -- go with a cheaper C platoon and upgrade my 3B position.

Right now my 3B is Barmes but I haven't been able to find a platoon mate for him. The rest of my lineup looks good to me.

c- Sandoval/Ardoin?
1b- Votto
2b- Phillips
3b- Barmes?
ss- H Ramirez
lf- Bay
cf- Hamilton
rf- Guerrerro
dh- M Ramirez

Sandoval isn't a very good fit for your park, and hits into a ton of double plays. I don't really like Votto for your park either. I would probably downgrade at those two positions and try to shore up your defense a bit. Too many 3s and 4s to my liking especially considering a pretty cheap starting staff in a hitter's park.

You have a strong pen, and that should help when your starters get rocked, which they will. Hopefully you can score enough to win.

Hang onto Sandoval!!! He consistently hits very well, but may need to be platooned. He's one of the most sought-after cards in the deck.

I didn't have time to address the rest of your team but you certainly have some hitters.

But I'd platoon Sandoval at 1B with someone like Sexson (or plenty of other cheap vs. L options) and look for someone like Napoli or a high BPHR catcher (plenty of those, too).
