We have not heard from mahoots, so his spot is up for grabs.

I am starting a keeper league for the upcoming 2009 set. It will be a 24 team league. This league will be played very much like MLB. We will have 40 man rosters where you will be able to bring up guys from your "minors." We will have free agency through a powerball system
Basically, if you have ever dreamed of running your own franchise, this will be your chance. Get in right from the start!

I have already created a yahoo groups, so that we can have a message board for all of us to chat.

We will only play one season a year. We will have a solid constitution and commish board, made up of 4 members. We will have updated free agent list for ease of information.

Like I said, this will be as real as possible. Every team will have its own stadium. There will be a 200 mil salary cap so you can pick any player you want. You will be able to put anybody on your 40 man you want. If you want Stephen Strasburg, he will be eligible. If you want your grandmother, well, she is eligible too. If you want to pick your nephew who is 5 but throws 40mph already, go right ahead.

I am in this for the long haul! I am hoping to make this a sucessful competitive league. This is a different type of league and I hope it gets alot of interest. If you are interested or have any questions, contact me at kylerose256@hotmail.com and post below. The rules are also below.

CHIN MUSIC BASEBALL LEAGUE

2010 (Amended)

STRUCTURE:

I. 24 Franchises with a single franchise per owner.

a. 4 divisions, 6 teams per. Per TSN rules.
II. Participants: 24 members of Strat-O-Matic Online

III. Teams: Rosters will consist of 40 players, 25 must have cards
IV. Rules: TSN game engine rules will apply

a. 200 million salary cap
b. DH will be used

MANAGEMENT
1. League Officers
a. The executive committee will consist of 4 members.
b. Committee Members will be dispersed 1 in each division.
c. Committee Members will address issues not covered by the Constitution and take a vote.
d. Substitute Officers: If a committee member plans to be unavailable for part of a season, the league may select alternatives to serve in his place for that part of the season.
2. YahooGroups
a. All league documents will be available at the league messageboard in Yahoogroups.
b. This will have the constitution, updated rosters, carded free agents and transactions.
c. Yahoogroups will also serve as a meeting place for correspondence and and discussion of issues in the league.
d. All members must join the Yahoogroups messageboard.

ROSTERS:
I. Roster: A complete franchise roster shall consist of 40 players. These players may be current MLB players, minor league players or any person a franchise wishes to draft. 25 players must be carded SOM players per TSN.

a. Player Eligibility:
i. Anyone, a franchise so chooses to draft, is eligible for 40-man rosters.
ii. The franchise must use its roster to the constraints set by SOM. (minimum of 9 pitchers, 2 catchers, etc.....)
iii. A team must consist of 25 players on the active roster at all times.

DRAFTS:
I. Stadium Draft

a. A stadium draft will be held before any roster draft in the first year of the league and succeeding years if needed
i. This draft will be random. Teams will be placed in a randomizing program and set.
ii. The draft will be ran through the Yahoo message board until all 24 teams have a stadium.
b. Stadiums are exclusive to the franchise that drafts it.
c. Stadiums will be eligible to be changed after each season.
i. If more than one franchise wishes to change, worst record chooses first.

II. Player Draft
a. The Player Draft will take place each year after the subsequent years cards are available.
i. NOTE: We will work on a more precise date for following years.
b. The first years draft will be 40 rounds.THIS COULD TAKE AWHILE. BE PATIENT.
i. The first years' draft will be serpentine style.
aa. The random selection(order will be set by randomize system) will be reset every 2 rounds through round 14. (reason: some like to pick at the ends and some in the middle, this will give everyone the opportunity to pick where they like.
bb. After the 14 rounds, the order will go in reverse order of the original random selection; i.e. rounds 1 and 2. We will finish the draft this way. (if you had pick 24 in the first round you will be picking in the first and 48th spot the rest of the way.)


c. The Player Draft, after the first year, will be based on worst to best record.

i. This draft will be 10 rounds.

ii. Each round worst to best record, no serpentine style.

iii. Franchise rosters must be down to 30 players to participate in the draft.
STARTING THE SEASON
1. Team Entry

a. You will be notified individually on when to enter your team into the league. Go ahead and have your team ready to go and wait for notification.
b. Divisions will be randomly preset for the initial season except that committee members will be one to a division. These will remain the divisions for following seasons.

c. The last team entered will be a committee team. We will allow for a minumum of 7 days to pass and a maximum of 13 days. To allow for the most time post TSN player selection program the last team will be entered on a Monday. This will allow committee members time to double check rosters.
TRANSACTIONS:

I. Free Agents

a. Any player, with a SOM card, that has not already been placed on a franchise, will become a free agent.
b. Any player, that has not been given a card, is no longer eligible to be claimed by franchises. (If you want a prospect, they must be picked in the draft.)
c. When picking up a free agent it must be announced on the YahooGroups included the player dropped
from the 40-man roster.
d. Free Agent movement after the draft but before the rosters are entered into TSN and the league set
will have this stipulation.
i. Announced on YahooGroups as above.
ii. First come first served by posting order.
iii. Only 1 player signed per day per franchise.

e. Free Agents are no longer eligible to be picked up after the 120th game of the season.
f. Free Agents picked up after the 1st games of the season are considered Free Agents for the following
seasons draft. That means you can't keep them for the next year.


II. Player Movement

a. A 25 man active roster is required that conforms to TSN's roster requirements.
b. A franchise may deactivate a player at any time without penalty, per SOM rules, but that player must be deactivated for 3 series minimum, unless injury to another player necessitates activating that player. (this is to keep guys from taking too much advantage of pitching matchups.)
c. This is a 200 million salary league, so there is minimal chance that a franchise will run out of salary. If you run out, you run out and are done making transactions.
d. Please be careful that the player you are picking up is actually on your 40 man roster or an eligible free agent. This is an honor system of sorts, however, explicit imfractions of this could have you removed not only from this league but also reported to Bernie of TSN.


III. Trades

a. A franchise may trade with any other franchise without approval from the members of the league, however do not abuse this freedom. We all want a highly competitive league and lopsided trades can destroy a league quickly. If the league officers deem a franchise to have abused this freedom multiple times then a removal from the league will be possible.
b. A franchise must be able to maintain a workable SOM 25 man roster after every deal, they may not count
on picking up a free agent to complete the deal. Pick up the FA before hand. Or make the appropriate
roster move beforehand.

c. The trade deadline will be whatever dealine has been set by SOM.
d. ALL trades must be announced on YahooGroups.




FREE AGENCY PROCESS

I. Rules

a. A player who is 27 or younger at the beginning of the calender year is not eligible for free agency. So,
franchises will be able to keep thier young players longer just like the majors.
b. Free Agency will be handled using the national powerball lottery, numbers 1-55.
i. The first 3 lottery drawings after the beginning of the season will be used to determine the
numbers for Free Agency.

ii. Each franchise will submit a list of its players older than 27 being assigned to numbers anywhere
from 1-55.
iii. This list is DUE on Tuesday after opening day at the latest. Any franchises that does not submit a list
will have one created for them alphabetically until all players are listed.
iv. If the number corresponding to a player on the list comes up in the lottery that player becomes
a Free Agent.

c. Each franchise will be allowed to select 1 free agent on their own roster to retain for the following season.
This choice will be made before the following years draft begins. A specific date will be given by the
committee.


SANDBAGGING

1. Thou shalt not do it. Meaning tanking your team by bringing up a bunch of scrubs to better your following
years draft position is not allowed. This will come under the discretion of the league committee.

Well, I am back. After reading about the changes including the 24 team leagues I got pretty pumped about doing a serious keeper league. Yes, I am one of the commissioners that will be running this foray into baseball nirvana.

This type of league is the kind of competition I really enjoy. It's all about short and long term planning, luck and good health, a few key trades where you hope you didn't sell the farm for a fleeting hope at the penant with all it's fame and glory.

As with any new venture the league will evolve as time goes by, yet stick to the core principles of fair play and the love of baseball. We are certainly open to ideas and look forward to discussing them on the yahoogroups board.

Both Kyle and myself were pretty tied up for the holidays and now that has settled down we are ready to get at it with a fervor.

The draft is going to take a while this year. That's unavoidable, yet in a way gives owners a good amount of time to consider their picks and direction.

It's a long year and we want to make sure we do this fair and right. I look forward to getting to know all you potential owners weaknesses so that they can be fully exploited toward my end goal of winning it all year after year......grins.
