Bernie should just get rid of the trade option...

I am completely disgusted with 99% of the TSN players regarding trades. No one wants to make a fair trade - it has to be a one-sided slam in their favor or nothing ever gets done. This is so even if you are offering fair 2 for 1's or 3 for 1's to another player. It's ******* ridiculous. Players get caught up having a particular player on their teams and lose all ability to think rationally to decide if trading that player would make their team better. Bernie should just remove the option from the game completely.

trades

Postby tony best » Wed Aug 24, 2011 7:17 am

I have had NO problem making trades!! In a 2010 league I recently made this trade:
L.Berkman,J.Hamilton,Chipper Jones,J.Upton,J.Jaso for
A.Kearns,D.Lee,A.Rodriquez,D.Ross,I.Suziki

Now theres a swap!!
Why-well both teams sucked so why not?

I have made many other trades
I think the feature is GREAT :D :) 8-)

Without trades or the possibilities of changing your team to address needs, the long season would be a bore.

So, just to understand, you're getting pissed because someone doesn't want to trade a particular player? What's with all the hubbub, bub?

I'd like to see what trades you offered this person, and what park that person is playing in. What might seem fair or might seem to make someone elses team better to one person might not seem that way to another.

I average 4 trades per season per team.
Am usually able to make trades that are needed.
Of course, your percentage of trades happening is directly related to the win-win value for both owners.

Great point - can't make a deal if the other owner gets no perceived value in return.

First, I make a decent amount of trades, but:

No Way!
[quote:812fa98af0]No one wants to make a fair trade - it has to be a one-sided slam in their favor or nothing ever gets done.[/quote:812fa98af0]
I find this to be a bit true, but you can't expect 100% positive participation in anything.
My biggest complaint is that a good number of the trade offers are worthless. A guy with 3,500 manager points just offered me this in a No-DH league in which I have Choo and Werth. The thinking behind the trade is either dumb or lazy. I mean, at least put a little effort into getting something decent together before sending it out.
[b:812fa98af0]You give up: [/b:812fa98af0]
Guerrero, Vladimir ($1,270,000)
Werth, Jayson ($8,410,000)
Baker, Scott ($500,000)
[b:812fa98af0]Other team gives up: [/b:812fa98af0]
Santana, Johan ($4,720,000)
Heyward, Jason ($7,320,000)
Rhymes, Will ($2,520,000)

From the Commish (This is a theme league)

This has been a great league so far. Lots of chat and trades. I've been
keeping up with all of the trades (check out our Indiv League Chat). So far
there have been 27 trades - about 27 more than most Strat leagues these
days. We are now in the second half of the season, but before we get too
settled in, we will have a bunch of transactions after Game 120.

I offered a trade to another team that I thought helped me more than him. I told him to look over my lineup and tell me what he wanted out of my bench players and gave that player to him for next to nothing thanking him in both trades. We have many players on our rosters that we would never use so that does make it easy.

I don't have a problem accepting trades, but the main problem is most offers I get are so awful, I feel insulted they were even offered. The one time I got George Brett in an 80's draft, I got four offers for him . . . nothing offered a reasonable return. If I'm going to give up a guy who is often the best player in the league, I better get something close for him . . . a top pitcher or two really good players. Brett for Mattingly straight up? Brett and Carew for Will Clark and Toby Harrah? At least give me something . . . sheesh. I did accept a trade for Pedro Guerrero though . . . because I got Hershiser in return. He may had a poor year for me, but that's a worthwhile trade . . . I'll take my chances on something like that any time.

My main thing with trades is, there are guys I won't trade . . . either because they are favorites, or high draft choices, or because they fill a role that doesn't have many other options (like Oquendo in 80's, or a really good SS/CF/C/2B in just about any game). Make me an offer for something I want, something that's fair or even favors me a little, and I'll probably bite. But trying to take away my only lefty power hitter and giving me more righties? Try to take my gold glove SS for a powerful DH? Come on . . . give me something worth thinking about . . . I know mutually beneficial trades can be hard to come by, but if you really want something valuable, you can't expect to give up nothing.

Something I will often try is sending the manager of the team I am wanting to trade with a message saying I am interested in so and so....Is there anyone on my roster that interests you?

That is a starting point...avoiding what he may consider a bad offer and I will usually make a trade, more often than not.

I have had a few managers that will not even answer, but for the most part a pretty good trade dialog will begin and you have a better idea of what he is needing and can shape a deal that will fit you both.

Trading is a great feature in the game and doing away with it would not be good....Don't get po'd because someone won't trade....Change your tactics
