CALLING ALL 2006 AUTOLEAGUERS

Postby spicki17 » Wed Apr 12, 2006 9:34 am

[b:ee0cb4e957]For anyone who plays in AutoLeagues for 2006[/b:ee0cb4e957], I have requested of Bernie to switch the waiver default to weighted waivers instead of the standard waivers. He said there is no evidence people would rather have Weighted Waivers, so I am calling for a poll. Please vote if you care (this is a huge deal to me).

So, what the difference between the 2 is:

After the draft the waiver order is determined by:
a) [b:ee0cb4e957]Weighted Waivers[/b:ee0cb4e957] - this means the more high ranked players you miss on, the higher your waiver spot.

b) [b:ee0cb4e957]Standard Waivers[/b:ee0cb4e957] - this is just a total count of how many players you pre-ranked that you miss on.

[b:ee0cb4e957]Example[/b:ee0cb4e957]: If you miss on your top 10 players and someone else misses on their bottom 11 players, they would get a higher waiver spot than you with Standard Waivers (since 11 total > 10 total), but with Weighted Waivers, you would get a higher waiver spot (since the people you missed on were ranked higher).

[b:ee0cb4e957]TSN Explanation:[/b:ee0cb4e957]"The Waiver Priority order starts with the team that lost out on the most draft picks in the Draft, and proceeds down the line until the team that lost out on the fewest picks is last in the order. If there is a tie for the number of draft picks lost in the Draft, the Waiver Priority spots are randomly assigned to those teams.

Weighted Waivers is an alternative way of determining the Waiver Priority. Instead of the order of teams on the list being determined by the number of draft picks lost in the Auto-Draft, it is based on the weight of draft picks lost. If a team loses out on its top priority pick, that's worth 25 weighted points. If a team loses its 25th pick, that's worth 1 weighted point. The team with the most total weighted points would be first in the Waiver Priority, and the team with the fewest would be last. This method of determining the Waiver Priority is selectable when creating a new private league."

Weighted waivers may have saved my äss in the first tour league. I lost out on something like seven of my top 8 picks, but got all but one of the rest. I had third pick instead of 10th or 11th

Weighted waivers is the fairest way to go. Missing your top pick is not the same as missing your 25th pick. No way, no how.

Bumpitty Bump.

I voted for weighted. Think it's much more fair. Either way It'd be nice if we could get as many votes as possible.

If you like weighted waivers this way you make sure the product improves,

If you don't this way you make sure the product remains the way you like it.

Either way. Vote away :D

Nice work, spicki. Standard waivers looks to be about as popular as Donny Rumsfeld among retired US generals.

(i.e, ... BUMP)

C'MON AND VOTE Y'ALL!

No Brainer for Bernie & TSN. As obvious a move as making sure you observe daylight savings. Oops!!!! Only kidding.

about the fairness issue of weighted waivers, but I have made a killing with the standard waivers system. I usually pck 5 cheapo's who are popular at the bottom of my draftlist guaranteeing me at least 5 missed pix and never get a waiver pick higher than 3rd. It has been nice, but I'll vote for weighted on the issue of fairness to everyone else.
