It sounds like the ratings posted by Lamanna may be wrong...

Very interesting,

I wonder what the statistical variations for certain players "really" means.

Are there gonna be those "value players" out there again this year.

I am sure it will open up possibilities that players will over perform or underperform on certain cards.

This will get the Vets all in a frenzy trying to figure out where the gems are. It will keep them busy.

[quote:f2daf30e6d]The ballpark ratings that are distributed with the 2006 board games and computer games have been corrected. The ratings published in Strat-O-Matic’s Baseball Ratings Book are the correct reference. Please ignore any contrary ratings published elsewhere.

The changes made at the 11th hour of our ratings process mean that [b:f2daf30e6d]the calculations for some players are very slightly different [/b:f2daf30e6d]than they would have been. To have accounted for this slight difference would have caused at least a month’s delay in the release of the 2006-season cards and computer products. However, [b:f2daf30e6d]our tests show that the variances are well within the expected high-confidence levels of mathematical standard deviation.[/b:f2daf30e6d] The 2006-season ratings should perform at the high levels of accuracy that Strat-O-Matic customers have come to expect.

Scary.

Anyone has the new ratings?

Very scary indeed. From the little bit that I read here, it looks like they funked up pretty good on a few parks, affecting entire team sets, and the players within those team sets.

I don't like it. I'll still play, but the 2006 set deserves an asterisk*.

What teams do you all think will be affected the Most????

Petco, Busch, and MM come to mind (which means the Astro's Card's and Padres could be off as far as team sets go.)

I'm summarily confused. Can anyone post the correct/finalized BP ratings for 2007? Thanks!

The "Revised and Official" 2006 ballpark chart is up on Strat-o-matic.com. The parks basically put me to sleep, no park is more than +/- 3 HR lefty vs. righty. We'll soon be longing for the days of Petco and MM.

Well, I like it!! :)

I never really appreciated the one sided stadiums. It makes the job of the GM too easy (you don't need to consider the teams in your division, you just focus on building a team for your stadium). With the more neutral stadiums, it's gonna be more about adjusting your teams to your opponent.

Alos, I appreciate that you still have access to one extreme hitter park, with CHICAGO (AL) being 1-19 HR, and one perhaps not extreme, but highly defense oriented with RFK being 1 single and 5-3 in HR.

More emphasis on the the cards and other strategy-subtle and not so subtle. I think it is a good thing.
