Seeking Help from the pros

[quote:79f768a339="IrishJoe"]Is the concensus that the league would be better with a 10 round live draft then an auto draft for the remaining 25?

I would definitely use the SOMO live draft site. That works marveously (thanks to the initial guy who set it up Penngray) and now that it is being kept in line, it is just what you need.

I am in several keepers and I love the concept. In a keeper, though, I do not think that a "draft 10" and then fill is a good way to go, since picking the "Franchise" as you call it is what the whole concept is about.

Just my thoughts. Good luck. 8)

Cubit, the draft 10 then autodraft would only be for the initial season. Thereafter each season would be a live 10 round draft.

Joe

A problem I forsee is that after the autodraft, there is always a frenzy for an hour or two. Hundreds of transactions quickly. This works for the 25-28 on the roster but I have to figure out how to protect non-roster transactions. Maybe the full live draft will avoid this since all initial transactions will be through the board and the teams can be pretty well set before league creation.

Personally I'm not too crazy of the idea of leaving Keepers from the initial season to the Autodraft "flip-of--the-coin-if-tied" style.

35-40 Live draft would be the ideal IMHO.

Joe - the solution to the juggernaut team you are refering to is to have supplemental drafts after every season. Make it so that every team must drop at least 10 players, then set up the draft as non-serpentine, with the team with the worst record picking first every round. Set up the rounds from worst record to best.

There are always players the go from very cheap to very expensive when the new seasons come out. Take this year - Francisco Liriano wasn't carded in last year's set and now he's the top starting pitcher. If you set the draft up like I suggest, the worst team now has the dominent starting pitcher this year. The same was true with dozens of stars over the years.

Making the champs drop at least 10, or 15 maybe, will help churn the rosters and give everyone a fresh start.

Irish, just copy this:

Or one of the other leagues currently going.

Serpentine is not great if you are doing worst to first (Serpentine evens out the picks, worst to first is supposed to make them uneven to help the worst teams). Serpentine is good for the initial draft, just not the yearly ones.
