Can anyone solve this mystery?

Charlie,

I have no intention of giving up but if the basic structure of the team is sound and it more a matter of bad luck then scheme there really isn't much for me to do. I am employing a four man rotation so aside from adjusting my line-up in times of prolonged injury this team will basically run on autopilot.

Now that is not to say that I will not be scouring the rosters of my league mates trying to find a deal that could improve an area of my team but as we all know finding the right fit talent and money wise is not that easy so a season changing trade might not happen.

Believe me I would love nothing more than to start waking up to some serious wins. Heck at this point I'd take just winning a series as I am now 3-15 in my last 18 games. In the end if the team turns it around that would make for a memorable season that I won't soon forget. But in the event that things remain static the team can handle itself and remain competitive (based on the assumption that is bad luck and not poor planning) while I pursue my other teams more diligently.

I wouldn't retire because of the balanced parks. I have been playing since 2001 and I have 31 overall championships, of which I believe possibly zippo have been won in balanced parks that weren't heavily leaning towards HR's or pitching. All of my recent forced efforts in these parks have been mediocre at best. I like the game win or lose, although it is more fun to win. I guess we'll just have to find a way to win in balanced parks. Sometimes you don't get what you want, you get what you need.

Well Well,

Urishade,

Yes, I seem to be the punching bag round here, so feel free to jump in and lob a few barbs my way. 8)

I didn't realize that you were in my league. I am glad to be able to help your team out as much as I can. I am glad that I am responsible for more than 50% of your wins. It is all about helping your neighbor right???

Now I will be looking to punish you for your insolence.....I will try xtra hard to win the next time we play....it won't matter much, but I will try.

I am sure your team will turn around and you will have the last laugh.

Just for an example, I had a MM team in '06 that was 18-30. I did make a few trades, so It wasn't all HAL, but that team went from Worst by far to a respectable 6 games over .500 and missed wild card by 1 game. So basically, I made up 18 games after the 50 game mark.....not too bad, so if I of all people can do it, the average player should be able to as well not to mention someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Good luck rest of the Way

[quote:7c20e36045]Just so everyone knows, Puckin's team remains the only team that I have won a series agianst this season. In fact I took both of our series thus far this season and those four wins account for half of my team's meager eight victories[/quote:7c20e36045]

Wow...what a shocker :!:

FWIW- Everybody beats up on Puckin. I don't want to burst your team's bubble, but c'mon. This is no major accomplishment.

Worst No More

Postby Urishade » Thu Mar 29, 2007 10:06 am

Well the tide finally turned ever so slightly in my favor last night as I recorded my first sweep of the season and notched my first two wins in one-run games. Unfortunately for every success there is a failure. So in the interest of good fun amongst bottom feeders I would like to reveal that another veteran, Roscodog, was the victim of team’s mini upswing.

I think Rosco made the mistake of irking HAL with his team name. As we all know HAL is a fickle old fellow who doesn’t like braggarts so it I guess it comes as no surprise that he has smited Rosco’s Best Damn Strato Team Period with the ignoble honor of being my first sweep and rewarding him with a 9-21 record replete with a team full of hitters who are woefully underperforming. On the other hand HAL seems to have a predilection for team names that have some sort of sexual connotation as all three of my championship teams had some form of a perverse moniker.

I am very interested to see the results of tonight’s games as there were several times in my last 06 season where my team, which was far behind in the standings as well, swept a series only to see those games given back in full the next night. For all the joy I get today there could be an equal if not a great amount of pain tomorrow. But I think I’ll just go by the old adage of living for today.

Thought I had some good balance between pitching and hitting myself. My starters are slanted against lefties, since the big bats in my division tend to be Lefties. But I do have strong bullpen help against righties should HAL feel the urge to sub appropriately.

I'm hovering around .500, but feel like my offense could/should do more...

On a side note, I LOVE Hafner's card, but don't think I'll waste that kind of money on a DH again in an $80M league.

Keyzick,

It didn't take me long to figure out your team's problem as it is a rather simple one. You are facing right-handed pitching 74% of the time but aside from Ramirez you have no starting hitter that has a balance to the right and it shows up in your L/R splits.

Vs. lefties your team is hitting a robust .284/.347/.514 but against righties you are only hitting a paltry .242/.314/.408 and since your are facing righties almost 3/4s of the time I am rather surprised that your team is even around .500.

I would look around the league and try to find some comparably priced hitters on other teams that hit righties with impunity and make some trades. You need to balance off your line-up and perhaps even tip it in favor of being better at hitting righties given the amount of right-handers you are seeing. Best of luck going forward.

Yeah, realize I painted myself into a corner against righties. Kinda got stuck with that through the draft, and wasn't able to do much through waivers.

I kinda figured Hafner and Gload (lefties) along with Reyes and Matthews (Switchhitters) could make up for it against righties, despite being Lefty Balanced.

I am unclear as well with this team. Thought I put together a team that could compete and could hit in this park. Any thoughts? SGT D
