If your experiment was with defense, I like the idea. I have three of four defensive themed teams going and I think three have the best record and one is a WC. With the plethora(Ialways wanted to say that) of very good defensive players in 2007, you should be able to put together a winner using very good defenders. I think you just need a better plan.

[quote:5daf8d5c27]Wells.... another good card but bad for your park....[/quote:5daf8d5c27]

I do have a question about this. Why is he bad for RFK?

He's a .303 hitter w/ an OBP of .357. He has 40 doubles which is the mantra for a pitcher park ... and he has 32 HRs (granted, he's got more BP HR chances than pure HRs)

Is Beltran better suited for RFK (don't consider $$$)?

Expanding on that...due to the "plethora" of very good defenders, and shallow pool of very good pitchers, you should be able to get good hitting defenders and high value pitchers (ie, ballpark aided), if you go with a medium singles, low HR park.

That, to me, is a pretty good formula for success in '07. As with everything though, some adjustments would have to be made based on opponent makeup and ballparks.

I'm learning rfk myself but against righties beltran has a couple of ballpark dependent HR's (not good in RFK) but they are doubles against lefties (good in RFK). so kind of a mixed bag with beltran.

I had a similar dillemma on my rfk team, wanting a 1 in CF defensively but trouble finding a good match. I ended up taking sizemore. The good is there are only three lefty starters in my division, the bad I don't think he is a good value and the card is just ok, imo.

The reason I say that about Wells is that about 1.5 million of his price is D. In order to maximize his remaining value I want a park that he can exploit. You will get as good or better O #'s from Matthews in RFK with good D and 2.5 million extra in $$$.

well if we're talking ideal, i think suzuki is probably the best "value" of the mid to high dollar range cf's for rfk....

Good call...also a couple great platoon options available...but I can live with a 3 in CF easier than a 3 on the corners. If you can do that, then there are a lot of opportunities.
