fish out of water, seeking opinions on this team

Made a few changes, not done yet.

Picked up Chulk and Benitez, dropped Bonderman.
Picked up Reese, Edgar Martinez, and Jay Payton.

Not sure where I'm headed at this point. Will likely drop Baez to free up 2m. I need to determine my DH and catching options now.

Just keep your catchers and if one is a little better against rigties, bat him against righties. I've never had Matheny but hear he's good and I know Ausmus is good so you should do alright with your catchers.

Catchers.. DH.. Relief adjustments

Postby genevajack » Fri Nov 18, 2005 10:43 am

Catchers- Estrada and Ausmus is a nice high OBP platoon. Snyder a cheap RH power hitter for Wrigley. Torrealba and Buck (usually good for 25-30 HRs) also should be considered.

Cheap DHs for Wrigley (against RHP)- Burrell, Mark Sweeney, Grieve (a cheap backup), Sierra (if many power parks) Use Edgar Martinez versus LHP. Trade Young-you don't need him-he is marketable.

Relief- Many BP HRs out of this bunch. Other options- Mecir, Choate (backwards LHP) instead of Timlin. Embree and Politte (low WHIP) may get killed in Wrigley.

I would still drop one starter for a reliever with r2 rating.
Would be better than using Horacio Ramirez as a reliever.
I have found that having two good relievers is ideal.
Other than that, looks like a balanced team.
