Who is the best LF or CF available?

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Fri Nov 18, 2005 8:36 pm

I'm not so sure you cannot do better than Alou - both defensively and Power. Glaus is great with sufficient inexpensive backup. If Huff - best 1B and 3B backup at Gr Amer is not available, you might want somene else at 1B(Lots of choices). Boone himself isn't enuf to cover the leftside.

Freel/Wilk/Drew/Glaus/Estrada/1B(Sweeney)/______/Rollins/Boone(Great up the middle) Vs RH... But I'd seek either a good power/Def CF and/ or use Wilk there and Freel in LF w/ a RH killer as your DH.

Vs LHP Maybe Rollins or someone cheap(DH) leading off with good OBA, followed by Wilk, a lefty killing 1B, Drew, Boone, Glaus, Rollins, a LH killing catcher(Cheap w/ good power #'s) and Freel 9th.

But look for either a 2 way 1B/ either a CF w/ Wilk in LF or Wilk in CF w/ Freel in LF w/ a backup OF/DH that kills LHP. As good as budget will allow. Alou might be ok afterall if you're dH'ing him, but I'd prefer Carlos Lee to Alou if you're dHing him.

Pitching

Penny is great value and a good Gr Amer. fit(No hrs). But I would pair either Bush or Harden(Likely) with Hard Reverse(Haren/Williams/Piniero) or with Harden a med reverse - Wise/Mussina etc. And Leiter/Lowry is a decent pair - but if Willis is available - you can save a lot of cap and have a * sP to come up everfy 4th day. Then I'd get another inexpensive reverse Rev who can relikeve as well.

Your initial Q was about G. Anderson. He is a great DH vs RHH and a good backup if you have a CF with inj risk. Another good DH vs RH is Dellucci. There are a lot of lefty killers to choose from.
