Yep, I like Thomas too. I just dropped him on my current team to have some new players.

In Power Parks...

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Wed Jan 11, 2006 3:12 am

I like either Freel or Ford at leadoff and Wilkerson at #2. Then I follow them generally with Bonds, Glaus and Huff.

In hitters parks with low HRs like Fenway or PNC or in LH Parks like Shea and Trop - I like Pierre/Ichiro at 1 and 2. Or Freel/Pierre or Freel/Ichiro - depending upon who I can get.

I also like any combination of Freel/Young platoon with either Pierre or Ichiro at #2. in Pitcher's parks like Petco.

Two other playersI like at #2 are Mora - who is very hard to get and Loretta - who is pretty easy to get - interestingly enuf - both at the same price.

I've had success with Pierre leading off followed by Crawford.

Crawford didn't walk much, but they usually combine for 150-180 SB's.

I've been fairly pleased with:

Abreu leading off
Ichiro Second

If my 9th has an OBP around .340 Abreu and Ichiro both have a good chance of 100+ RS and close to 100 RBI.

In general I think Ichiro is my favorite 2nd and Most likely to choose Pierre to lead off

I had a 60M Fenway team with...

Freel/Pierre/Ichiro batting 1-2-3 and each scored over 100 runs and Ichiro drove in around 138 - not bad for a singles hitter. A factor that speed followed by fast, high average hitters with low or no DP's is something I don't see a lot of players employ. Freel had his usual high OBA in this league and hit about .275. But Pierre hit just under .350 and Ichiro hit .396...I think the factor of speed, high average hitters, the GB+ being hits due to runners being held and a singles park like Fenway allowed for a lot of runs scored - each making the hitter behind them more effective.

Now if you follow those 3 with extremely high slugging types - you have an OF that only costs 16.09(or you can use someone like Bocachia against LHP and DH Freel) - you'd have an oF for under 19M with good arms surrounding Pierre - to make running on Pierre less attractive and have a solid hitting, high OBA oF that fields well and could put a lot of big numbers up offensively - especially with a Mora/Loretta/Irod/ or big HR hitters with Natural HRs - Bonds/Glaus/Morneau hitting behind them.

Not really a bad plan with a midranged, low whip staff and a great closer.

That team won 95 games - knocking PBTR out in the 1st round before losing to Riggodrill in the Finals. So it was in some tough company.
