Draft Conflicts

Postby Palmtana » Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:39 pm

Bring it back. Someone posted on the ATG board that their draft strategy would be compromised if this feature were available. So bernie deep-sixed it. I think the advantage of promoting trading far outweigh this paranoid point of view.

I think its only fair that everyone know how conflicts were resolved and who were the hot commodities. If people want to get into it deep, you can figure out what everyone's original set of players was...oh well, I think its only fair. The unfairness of the old link was that not everyone knew the link existed because it wasn't linked from your control panel.

I agree. It actually promotes drafting alternative players rather than everybody drafting the same 24 guys. I think it is far more a positive than a negative.

We should make it a draft option.

[quote:d1377e08ec]Totally stupid and irrational. How could something be unfair that is a) after the fact, and b) available to everybody?[/quote:d1377e08ec]

I agree with B.) available to everybody....but unfortunately like so many things here it's not known or available to everybody.

A.) Not understanding how this can help some much more than others just shows what we're all prone to do...which is not think it through any further than how it might apply to us as individuals...

Let's see...Diamond Dope, Joe the Jet Ratings, secret peep links, the accepted practice of just Aping someone's team, seeing everyone's draft card after the fact (hey why not before that fact) and while on secret links, why not go back to how it was a little while ago and let us see our opponents stadiums before we enter a league... going to the message boards for advice...oh...and here's one we rarely do anymore...we can ...you ready...[b:d1377e08ec]actually see and read the cards (holy crap)[/b:d1377e08ec]...All of this would be unnecessary...I mean, while it's not really learning, it still is some effort right...who needs it (yuk)

Here's a better solution to that pesky "This game is hard" problem.

Eliminate opponents all together...We all play as teammates against HAL. We agree to divvy up the players in an open, just, fashion...peep and adjust accordingly each other's settings, and away we go...

My thinking is to ask Bernie if he can all let us take turns winning....No experience necessary, no thinking needed....Leagues would fill faster and all would be h-a-p-p-y....well except for the rare few that want to actually [b:d1377e08ec]"test their own abilities"[/b:d1377e08ec] at improving at this wonderful game....Every night, right at Midnight Bobby can lead us in the singing of our national anthem, followed by the less known.."Joy to the World, Parity is Great" song, as sung by the 81-81 little girl choir from Utopia....

In my recent autodraft I ended up with Felipe Lopez at 2B. I do not remember who I wanted, but I know it was not him. Is there another way besides this feature, to go back and look at who I may have wanted? Not that it matters much, but I am just curious how far down the list I fell since I have $7 million and am 12th on the waiver priority. I think I was after Zobrist, but do not remember for sure.

Print your rankings before you join a league.

I use a pencil and paper. Print cartridges are so expensive. I will admit that I played about 10 teams before I did that. I really didn't care what I didn't get just what I did.

nevdully: WTF? WTF, man?

All we're talking about here is looking at draft conflicts AFTER THE DRAFT. It is interesting, it is amusing, and hardly adds anything at all to anyone's advantage whether they look at it or not. Seriously, get the hyperbole under control. I find your reaction to my level-headed statement to be outrageously exaggerated. What does this have to do with "Hey, why not just read the cards? Are you with me people? Can you believe these jerks with their attempts to game the system?" All we're talking about is LOOKING AT THE DRAFT CONFLICTS AFTER THE DRAFT. Your chracterization of my motives is insulting and bizarrely over-the-top.
