I will be starting a season next week with two 5's in OF.

[quote:85685ff198="durantjerry"]Getting Cordero is ideal. I would also dump Ardsma and let Cordero close, as he is perfect for your park and team. Cheap with no #HR's. You know what I would do with the $$$=More Hitting!!![/quote:85685ff198]

Haha, you're killing me. BTW, how is HAL when using defensive replacements? I have Lind/Gomes set for d-subs.

One easy thing to keep in mind. If you want 270 HRs, that means an average of 30 HRs from every spot in the lineup. So far I see 7, maybe 8 spots potentially getting 30. The 1Bs are incredibly weak. At least pick up a guy like Jose Lopez or something.

It may be funny, but I'm not joking.

I'm sure a couple will come up short then a couple will hit 40+.

I'm actually pretty confident in Jones/Bailey platoon at 1st getting 30.

Thanks for the Jose Lopez though, I'll be honest I've never noticed him, nice hitting for his price.

At about that price, I'll take Chris Davis over Andruw Jones. Better production vs. righties, and a much better glove. In the end, though, I think you might as well go all out like durantjerry suggested, and get some real mashers.

Nice call on Davis, he would also give me another lefty in the lineup.

To be honest I don't understand the point in making my pitching staff weak for more hitting? What I'm trying to do is get the most production out of my offense with a solid pitching staff.

I might

Your pitching staff isn't really "strong" right now as it is, anyways. All of your pitchers, if possible, should have ZERO bpHRs.

Johnson 0 / 3
Rodriguez 0 / 2
Zito 2 / 3
Arroyo 4 / 2

Vargas 0 / 1
Aardmsa 0 / 0
Cordero 0 / 0
Rodney 0 / 4
Johnson 1 / 3

All of the starters are risky. Rodney and Johnson don't really have a function, and Aardsma becomes a really expensive R1 if you keep Cordero to close. I'd maybe go with Sean White over Aardsma as a second R2 to soak up some innings. Just a few more thoughts.

Couldn't get the pitchers I wanted, had to work with what was available. What's funny is i've actually had Zito/Arroyo at Yankee stadium before and the both did great, ERA's. under 4.00. I understand that may been a fluke.

Aards will be my closer.

Looking back I should have put Hill down on my draft list and got the ace I wanted.

Lind is gonna cost roughly 34 runs to your team defensively.

Gomes will cost 32 runs (he should save an extra 2 runs because of his arm).

DeJesus, at 4.82M, will save his team roughly 9.5 runs for his team over the course of a full season.

So, for similar $$$, Lind has to make up for 43 runs with his bat, compared to someone like DeJesus.

More or less a few runs and $$$, Gomes has to cover the same difference vs Francoeur.

Tough job, but not impossible. I have more confidence in Lind than in Gomes, mind you.

I think your starters might be Ok but you've overpaid for relief. You're paying for 3 C6 closers (and 1 C3) which is overkill. I agree with Durantjerry to dump Aardsma and get more hitting. You may hit a lot of homeruns but they will all be solo shots as right now you have virtually no on-base besides maybe Tulo and Zim.

As far as defensive subs, HAL is pretty good about that but you might be forgetting one thing - you have to be in the lead.
