[quote:da50de4f30="wachovia07"]I watched the Brewers play at least 120 games this year (on TV). If Alcides Escobar doesn't get a "1" at SS, there is no justice. The kid is amazing, regardless of what the raw statistics might indicate.[/quote:da50de4f30]
Huge Brewer fan here as well, and I went to about 30+ games this year. I thought Escobar was probably a right between a 1 and a 2. Made some spectacular range plays, but also had problems with his footwork. I don't have a huge problem with a 2 there, and he should improve. I thought Weeks probably deserved a 3 this year--there are worse second basemen out there. Also, Braun is a solid 5, how did he get a 4? And he totally doesn't deserve a 3 in the basic game. He basically plays super deep and lets nearly everything drop in front of him for a single. (I'm kind of OK with that, I don't want him injuring himself diving in the outfield or running into a wall..)
You know, one thing that NEVER gets mentioned with how bad the Brewer's starters were, was the defense, particularly the infield D. Pitching with a 3 fours and a two with a high e rating is very tough. Then your have Braun in left, threes in center and right, and a rookie catcher. Three of those guys (Prince, McGhee, Braun) have some of the absolute worst ranges in the league.
